Google translate just isn’t cutting it for us and my customer is getting irate. My French is limited to ordering a coffee and asking what time it is!

We are discussing vinyl graphics that I produce and I haven’t a clue what his English translation is trying to say ! Please could somebody write in French the following so I can just copy and paste it to him. Flowers Thankyou!

Dear Andre,
You have not ordered from me before.
You have stated blue as your preference. Is that correct?
Please confirm in your language if that is correct.
Note that my workshop is closed until 5th January.
Thankyou.

For reference, he’s never bought from me before so the reference to an ‘original order’ is irrelevant.
I’m just trying to establish what colour he wants Confused.

‘I'm able to view my initial order, but I can not see the requested color. As I have place many order in both red and blue, please let me know what was the initial requested color for this one. Andre’

Cher Andre
Vous n'avez pas encore passé commande avec moi. Par contre, vous avez indiqué bleu comme couleur préférée. Est-ce correct?
Pourriez vous confirmer dans votre language s'il vous plaît.

Mon atelier est fermé jusqu'au 5 janvier.

I must say - the use of "initial" could refer to a first draft order, not sent?

also not sure what you meant by "in your language" - "en francais" would be maybe clearer?

good luck!

@Marasme

Thankyou so much for taking time to reply, I really appreciate that.
Hopefully we can understand eachother better now, as long as he doesn’t now assume I can speak fluent French and sends me a paragraph of it by return !

First sentence should read

You have not ordered from me before.
Vous n'avez pas commandé chez moi auparavant

Marasme · 28/12/2020 09:28

my use of "pas encore" dispells the notions of any "initial ordering" by André - but indeed not a word for word translation.

ultimately the meaning is the same: no orders have been placed (yet).

@Marasme

Thankyou ! May I ask for one more translation, you have been so helpful.
My buyer has written the following:

Rebonjour,
Selon votre charte de couleur je confirme ‘’Dark Blue’’.
NB : Je quite du Canada pour les Bahamas le 14 janvier.
SVP confirmer que la livraison sera avant le 14 janvier.
Question : quel est le point d’expédition ?
André

I wish to reply in French:
‘ I will go open the workshop especially to make and post this order on 31st December, which should arrive in Canada before 14th January.’

Please could you translate that into French for me?

I’m so grateful you cannot believe, there are approximately 26 messages between us just trying to establish the order requirement!

"Je vais ouvrir l'atelier tout spécialement pour préparer et envoyer cette commande le 31 Décembre - elle devrait arriver a temp au Canada, avant le 14 Janvier"

good luck
