do you buy glasses in between eye tests?

I have an eye test coming up. I've had my current 2 pairs for the last 18 months. Just musing about style and how fashions change and I am wondering if other people change their glasses more frequently.

Also - side question, what glasses should I get?

Nope purely because the opticians near me are so expensive for frames. I tend to buy one set of frames and get the lens updated. Are there any good sites to buy frames that are not too expensive?

Err...how the hell would we know? Hmm

We don’t know what you look like, your face shape, your preferences or style, your current frames. What a burden to put on us, yikes!

Seriously, though, I generally don’t get new glasses between examinations unless I’m looking for something specific (eg prescription sunglasses) or my current prescription is clearly working well and I anticipate no change.

There’s no law that frames have to be purchased from the optometrist’s place of business.

Good luck and have a look around for fabulous frames.

My glasses coat around £400, so I always have my eyes tested before getting. If I break/lose them between scheduled eye tests I have my eyes tested anyway.

I have a colleague who buys new glasses several times a year for about £29-£49 from Asda. She gets them to go with new outfits, for special occasions etc. She has a much simpler prescription than me.

Yeah I have a varifocal prescription and the glasses are so expensive I don't have many pairs. However I've recently got contact lenses due to the mask wearing and discovered cheap fun reading glasses. Also online reglazing.
You should get what suits you but metal or combination frames, round shapes, large frames and clear plastic are some of the current trends.

I always get my eyes tested before buying a new pair. For the sake of £20 it's worth it as glasses cost so much.

I somewhat begrudge buying glasses anyway. I seem happy to spend £5/10 here and there on crap, but baulk at spending serious money on myself....but that's for another thread.

I only buy glasses when I have a test. If something were to happen, and they weren't able to be repaired, I think places tend to like an up to date prescription, so would have another test, unless my last was very recent.

I don't really see my glasses as a fashion to be fair...I tend to have a reasonably neutral frame that goes with most things...and don't care much when they don't...I can't not wear them.

Also...I hate choosing glasses...I almost always end up with near identical frames, just without the rubbed off paint, and slightly bent out of shape frame....

I get new reading glasses every two years when I have my eyes tested. However during the first lockdown I ordered a pair of reading sunglasses. I found a website where you upload your prescription.

thanks for your comments. I seem to have a bit of time on my hands, or at least increased interest in my appearance; so I thought I would see what others do here. I guess they are fundamental as they sit on your face all day, but I tend not to think about them at all.

I'm wondering about a grey pair for my next ones, possibly large lens.
