One thing you want to change for 2021?

Not a NY resolution, but one thing you think you can change that will make a real difference to your life.

Me - I plan to spend 30 minutes after dinner just winding down to classical music and cleaning the kitchen and getting ready for the next day. Lunchbox snacks writing in homework diaries, prioritising for the next day. That sort of thing.

For those interested in cutting down alcohol I'd recommend the Try Dry app.

I started walking almost daily after a recent op to help with my recovery and realised how calming getting out in the fresh air for 30 minutes or so was to my entire day. I want to try and aim for a walk at least every other day where I can - be this on my own or with DS and/or DH.

I also know I need to drink more water, I manage so well for a few weeks then fall back to drinking next to none at all. Need to keep it up!

Over December I started making little felt Christmas decorations and I'd love to keep up the crafting next year in some form. It meant I was on my phone much less and felt less tired on an evening as I was actually doing something and not just mindlessly scrolling.

  • Less phone time and more time reading, working on my business, keeping the home clean and tidy
  • Daily walk or yoga
  • Don't go bankrupt and manage to keep the house also don't starve to death

I think I need to be a bit better at setting work/life boundaries. Working from home all the time has meant that I’m often popping away from my desk to do housework/non-work related things when I should be working, and then spending time working in the evenings and weekends when I should be relaxing, just because my laptop is there and I feel the need to check emails.

I want to regain my vanity. I'm 40 next year

Develop a consistent yoga habit.
Me too. I am going to do yoga every day even if it's only a 3 minute sun salutation. I did this during the first lockdown and it really helped my back pain. Then I stopped!

keep healing and processing my CPTSD

I’m going to work much harder.
People say often here that folk never regret not working more in their deathbed but I don’t believe it.
If you’re ambitious - and I am - it’s the only way to get what you want.
This year has been built on some serious graft (resulting in more success) and I’m up for even more.

I'm starting small - I will read at least one book a month. Sounds pitiful, but I used to read loads but now spend most of my time online - thanks mumsnet Wink- so it feels achievable and hopefully enjoyable.

I'd like to lose some weight, but that's been my resolution for many years, so I need to find a way to do something specific that I can maintain rather than a woolly hooe.

rookiemere · 27/12/2020 19:23

woolly hope not hooe Blush

rookiemere · 27/12/2020 19:25

@YakkityYakYakYak yes also must do that one. For the last few months my work life balance has been horrendous. I need to start saying no to unnecessary meetings and be more productively ninja like in my working hours, then switch off the godamn laptop. I packed it away from the spare bedroom for visitors who sadly couldn't come, but it's been so relaxing not logging on or thinking about work in the holidays.

DollyMixtureLulus · 27/12/2020 19:26

If things improve, I am going to try to go on one date a month.

LER83 · 27/12/2020 19:30

I'm going to try and change my attitude towards cleaning, which I feel is taking over my life! I'm a stay at home mum to 3, who are all school age, and I spend my entire day cleaning, even when it doesn't need it. I prioritise it over everything which I need to stop. I also need to stop wasting hours on my phone looking at random shit!

Very best of luck Thanks.

I am also going to cease with using social media and MN as much. I have loads of things i need to do with my life which are more nourishing. Baking, playing with the children (which i am not great at); gardening.

I might have to put strict screentime limits on myself, never mind the DCS!
