Found 2 rump steaks at bottom of fridge that I had forgotten about and use by 24 Dec, they should be ok to cook up tonight do you think?

I’d eat it. Our grandparents bought meat from the butchers will not dates on and used common sense if they should eat it or not. They didn’t all drop dead from food poisoning.

‘With no’ dates
Stupid phone

I'd give it a sniff too, and if ok I'd enjoy. I'm not one for arbitrary rules when I'm capable of doing my own risk assessment.

Absolutely. But then I eat raw beef when someone more talented than me has prepared it, rare when I cook it myself.

It’s been (hopefully) hung for at least 30 days - another couple really aren’t going to make any difference.

Not just our grandparents! I buy most of our meat from the butchers. Agree with your point that it doesn't come with a best before date.

Sniff - you'll know by how it smells.

I always ignore use by dates, and just go by the sniff test. Things DO go off before their dates too. I have eaten many things several days after use by, never had food poisoning, perhaps my stomach is used to it!
