Not having to think about what to cook.
Seeing the dc open and play with their presents.
Ds15 arranging his presents in his room so he could see them all and be happy about what he got.
Playing games with my dc.
Seeing how happy DH and DF were with their gifts.
Seeing my sister/ nephews and parents for the second time since March.
Cuddling DD13’s New Guinea pigs.

We were all very tired and it was definitely more peaceful not trying to fit the whole family in.

I have to say my DC have been astonishingly lovely Xmas Grin They've been very appreciative, they've tried really hard to be helpful, and willingly phoned elderly relatives and done some doorstop waving at others. I'm very proud of them.

DressingGownofDoom · 26/12/2020 22:55

Not having to go to the shops.

And DS obviously but he is the highlight of my day each and every day.

Having dc safe at home, myself safe and between us not exposed to 100s and 100s.

Dh not working, relaxing... Sky arts!! Has been brilliant!

Mincepiehangover · 26/12/2020 22:58

Nor having to host anyone except my mum who said it has been the nicest Christmas we have had for years. Stayed in bed til 11am today . Been very relaxing with no stress.

wellthatsunusual · 26/12/2020 22:59

This has been my best Christmas ever. First time I've spent it in my own house with just my family. We have eaten, and watched TV, read books, the kids have played on their Nintendo and it has been pure relaxation.

Being safe at home with DC and dh. Enjoying dh and DC opening their presents. Relaxing. Been together 5 days. Dh back to work in the morning.

BackforGood · 26/12/2020 23:01

Everything really.
My (adult) dc all being here.
Christmas dinner
Seeing extended family and having a chat on Zoom
A really lazy day today, catching up with TV
The fact that dh cooks Christmas dinner and hates anyone helping him.
I got some lovely presents and things I got other people seemed to be a hit.
My dc are now past the age when then squabble and fight, or get over excited and over tired at Christmas.

The bad parts are not being able to see people face to face, apart from a socially distanced chat on the doorstep, and the fact that I've not been able to attend (in person) services in advent, nor go carol singing. But the great part is the way people have done their best to use technology to still put those services on.

Chimeraforce · 26/12/2020 23:02

Slow chilled pace
My DD and my partner her dad. I normally wfh alone so I like their presence.
2 fab Christmas dinners.
No school run = no parents queuing outside my house and parking all over the street. Peace.
Builders next door been off. Peace.
So much happier. It won't last

Same here, despite the initial disappointment of not being able to see family, we have had a lovely relaxed Christmas, just concentrated on the 5 of us and actually it’s probably been the nicest most relaxed Christmas we’ve had for years.

I think it definately helped that we decided early on to have a quiet Christmas with limited expectations, so didn’t make any plans only to have them cancelled at the last minute.
