Dd out playing during tier 4? Yes or no

I am in Scotland so in tier 4 as of today, dd usually plays in our street with her friends that stay around. Now that we are in tier 4 with the extension of the school holidays, I was planning on not letting her out to play due to the rules and this new strain or virus. However today her friends have been chilling the door etc asking if she was going out to play I said no today as weather was wild anyway and kept her in. Interested to hear what everyone else is doing in this situation?

The guidance is very clear that it is fine for children to play outside. The link is here:

www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-protection-levels/pages/protection-level-4/

It says:
You can meet people from other households outdoors in a private garden or in a public place such as a park. The maximum number of people who can meet outdoors is 6 which can be from up to 2 separate households.

Children under the age of 12 from these households do not count towards the total number of people counted in a gathering. Children under 12 do not need to maintain physical distance from others. This is to allow children under 12 to play with their friends outside.

Also realise you didn’t say how old she is - again, the guidance is clear that

“ Young people aged between 12 and 17 can meet up in groups of up to 6 at a time outdoors and are not subject to the 2 household limit. Physical distancing is required.”

Storms we had been letting our kids out to play in the street, we are Scotland too, but have had to put a stop to it. With it being so cold and dreich some of their friends parents were telling the kids to come in and heat up in their houses, play in conservatories etc without asking. We ended up the bad guys by saying no as it was against the rules.

Mine only allowed in our garden now, which is a terrible shame, but the group who normally play together quickly cottoned onto which family would let them in to use the toilet, or inside to play instead of being out in the cold. Eldest also clyped that the youngest was sharing a drinks bottle with someone else.

TBH I think the weather will naturally put a stop to it for the forseeable.

Thank you all, dd is only 6. Doesn't quite understand the rules so doesn't understand why she can't get out to play especially when her friends are out playing. I wasn't sure of the rules on outdoor playing and especially due to this new strain of virus. Thanks
