Are there any NHS workers on here who are "clinically vulnerable"?

I am due to start working for the NHS in a non-patient facing role but I am clinically vulnerable. I have to speak to occupational health before they can give me an unconditional offer of employment.

I am just wondering how your Trust or department handles clinically vulnerable employees? It's not a role anywhere near patients but one where social distancing and working from home is not possible. I already know we will all be wearing masks.

Ours have all been vaccinated, well the majority - they were some of the first, even if not patient facing. If you don't want the vaccine you'll have bigger issues.

Pre-vaccine, we found other roles for those staff. Ones where they could socially distance or WFH.

Yes I am and work full time. I'm the only one who hasn't been sick or off with covid this year.

Dh is. He got a vaccine the first week they were available.

I would definitely have the vaccine as soon as I was offered it. I'm in priority group 6 though so don't think that will be until the Spring.

Do you think that being clinically vulnerable will affect my job offer if they can't offer me a vaccine yet or make any adjustments to my role (e.g. more social distancing). Obviously I feel safe to do the role and knew what I signed up when applying I am just wondering.

@madcatladyforever Did occupational health make any adjustments for you?

Not me but my friend is - she's in haematology, hospital lab. She was shielding during the first lockdown and worked from home - she got assigned with reviewing policies. Since then she's moved to a new hospital in a different trust, same job. She works in the lab there, no adjustments were made. They are all in full PPE and friend says they're much better equipped than previous hospital so she feels safe.

DH is vulnerable, he's been treating patients throughout, no option for him. He got the vaccine in the first week.

I'm a nurse with a leaking heart valve and have daily face to face patient contact. I stayed home during the 1st lockdown but went back to work in July. We have a risk assessment form to fill in. I am due the covid vaccine on Tuesday.

Gremlinpoop · 26/12/2020 14:23

I am! I'm front line nurse with a low immune system. I get all the high risk letters etc.
Occupational health decided as I'm otherwise fit and healthy I can carry on working.
I have been patient facing all year.

I am a medical receptionist and only started in Sept after shielding in my previous job, who were very unsupportive so it was a worry applying for a new job. However I did tell them in interview that I had been shielding but it didn't stop them offering me the job. I luckily had learnt enough to be able to work at home in November for the lockdown and will be doing the same again from next week.
I will be having the vaccine as soon as I can so hopefully it won't be an issue.

I have a relative who is. Sorry cannot give any details as it would be outing. I think they may have had the first stage vaccine.

My friend is clinically vulnerable and in a non patient facing role that can be done from home but she was vaccinated
