I've got the next 10 days off work, on my own, in Tier 4

What would you do with the time?

I'm not technically on my own but two teens and a seriously ill DH, so I may as well be. DH needs quite a lot of care, so that fills some of the time but I can leave him as DC are here.

I will run quite a bit and clear some cupboards out. Probably watch some films with DH, after that I'm a bit stuck.

Learn a new skill?

I would be crocheting, while listening to audio books or watching telly, whilst also thinking of jobs I should be doing instead.

Walk on the beach? I'd decorate my kitchen and hallway and sort out the garage if I had 10 days clear. Also reading, films, crafts, baking and a walk every day.

Hmm, the beach, staying local...Grin

I did consider helping DS1 decorate his bedroom but I don't think the household needs that kind of disruption on top of everything else we're dealing with atm.

I’m in the same position except totally on my own. I’m going to go for a daily walk, sort my wardrobe & make a pile for the charity shop when they open & read lots. I’ve also bought a new cross stitch kit. I hope you manage to enjoy the time.

Lonecatwithkitten · 26/12/2020 08:21

Walk every day.
Achieve one thing each day -clean a cupboard or some such thing.
Indulge a passion cooking, crafting whatever gives you pleasure.
Spend time with your family - not caring, but being with each other for pleasure.

Well it’s crap weather, but a lot of cafes in parks and things are open for takeaway, so if the weather isn’t too awful I’d buy a new book and go for a walk to clear my head and read a book and have a coffee and a lunch outside.

whatwedontknow · 26/12/2020 08:25

Oh I would empty my head of planning, I might read or listen to music, I might walk in the park or do nothing, how often do we get the chance? Yes it’s boring and a waste of time but we always feel we have to be doing something. If caring for your DH takes a lot of your time then take a break.

What relaxes you and what energises you? If you never have time to do exactly as you want without considering others? Now is the time.

With everything else you’ve got on, this is an excellent idea. I’m taking the advice myself. Grin

Any friends you could do a paired socially distanced walk and natter. Declutter and tip? Garden clearing? Actually, you sound like you have a lot on your plate - just reading and being might be worth doing.

My DH is caring for his mum so I am on my own and off work too. Walks with a friend, bought a Netflix sub and finally watching the Crown, learned a new knitting stitch (brioche) and making a head band to keep my ears warm. Thought about tidying up some kitchen cupboards....maybe later in the week. (Maybe not).
