Do you wear a work uniform?

I have a uniform to wear to work. I'm working later today and the whole thought of putting it back on already is filling me with dread. I love my job but my uniform is stiff and rustles when I move. I understand why I wear one but I can't help but wonder who designs them. The trousers only get comfortable once they have all but worn out!

I don't now but used to. Ime they are made of cheap materials and very badly made as well. One was a dress that if you reached up to get something, the whole dress lifted right up. The other one was a top with fruit on it and two strategically placed apples over your boobs Xmas Hmm

Not any more but I have worn my fair share of polyester nurses' tunics. Very rustley, stiff and weird sleeves which caught on everything.

Miss the giant pockets, though.

Misplaced fruit Shock who thought that would be a good idea! My uniform also has big pockets. That is a definite win. Thankfully there is absolutely nothing shocking about mine other than the awful cut and material.

We always assumed it was designed by a man. The amount of times the female staff caught customers staring at their boobs was embarrassing.

I need new uniforms but I haven't got any, it took years to get my uniform soft. But my god the pockets, they are like Mary popping bag. Also I like the colour.

I wouldn't like to wear boob apples.

As a teenager I used to work in a local pub, but it was owned by a chain and we had an express lunchtime menu that if you ordered from it we would guarantee you would get your foods in less than 15mins we were sent t-shirts to wear to promote it which said “I can satisfy you in less than 15minutes”....no idea who thought that was a good idea!!

I’m a nurse so yes . They are so unforgiving but better than the scales at warning of weight gain

Eminybob · 26/12/2020 08:20

I do generally but am working from home at the moment.
Dreading having to start wearing it again as there is no stretch in the material and I have definitely put on a few Covid stones pounds.

We get a new one every 2 years but the quality is generally awful so it’s falling apart by then. It’s cut so small and for women with a tiny waist and larger hips, which is the opposite of my body shape. I always have to size up. Hate it.
Living in leggings and hoodies at the moment while wfh and I love it!

nosswith · 26/12/2020 08:22

I don't but years ago was a manager for an operation where most did.

Shameful that I did not challenge the poor quality enough. A way forward might be to have some form of quality standard for material, sizes etc akin to an ISO or BS standard. Worth arguing for on the grounds that too many clothes are worn for too short a period (aka fast fashion) and that should not extend to workwear.

Lonecatwithkitten · 26/12/2020 08:25

I have control over our uniforms and insisted that the women's had shaped - so mock wrap scrub tops and shaped nurses tops.
On the hunt currently for good quality coats in hunter green for kerbside consulting ( we have water resistant fleeces).

I do wear a uniform but for the last 8 months or so we've been wearing scrubs. I'm dreading going back to normal uniform as I don't think its going to fit me due to the weight gained! Blush

Juanbablo · 26/12/2020 08:36

I do wear a uniform but I don't mind it. I wear black trousers and a polo shirt. I would prefer a t-shirt but the polo is ok. I work with children so need to be fairly comfy and easy to wash!

CherryCocoa · 26/12/2020 08:42

Well that slogan was unnecessary and inviting some hideous sexual comments as if working in a pub doesn't make you "fair game" already - well ime anyway!

My uniform needs to be ordered large too as it is based on the men's version... surprise surprise.

We normally wear polo shirts but the last few months have been wearing scrubs. I bought my own as I couldn't deal with rhe stiff uncomfortable material of the ones we were provided.

I also have short legs and I have to wear my usual work trousers like Simon Cowell so they semi-fit. Will miss the scrub trousers as they are a much better shape.

CosmicComfort · 26/12/2020 09:09

Never worn a uniform u til COVID-19 struck, now I wear scrubs. It’s like working in your pyjamas and I love it.

They aren’t flattering but oh so comfortable 😍

ghostmous3 · 26/12/2020 09:16

I wear uniform similar to what the nurses and nas wear on the wards Ours has massive pockets and it's very thick material and elasticated trousers. I find them comfortable

My last job was poloshirt, sweatshirt and a tabard
