How was your dinner? Ours was amazing. DH did the roasties to perfection. In fact, everything was done to perfection AND hot at the same time (2 ovens and insulated serving dishes being the key for me).
Glad something went to plan this year

And it snowed ❄️ !!

DH did us proud this year. A corking dinner including perfect roasties. I take credit for the gravy (which was also a hit) because that was the only thing I made.

Had to wait an hour for dessert because nobody had room.

DH mastered egg and dairy free Yorkshires and forgot to put the parsnips on so it was perfect

Definitely roast potatoes and gravy , which as a pp said can cover up any cock ups . I burnt the stuffing this year but the posh ready made gravy detracted from it.

Grandad forgot the pigs in blankets and yorkshire puddings today, there was mutiny amongst the troops.

This year, thanks to tier 4, twas just me, DH and our lovely children. Much turkey was consumed, with pigs in blankets and khoftas. Mmmmm bacon.

My dinner this year was an absolute triumph and I’m not even ashamed to tell you I bought only a turkey thigh (I don’t like the white meat anyway but there are only 3 of us) and my roasties, parsnips and Yorkshire puddings were ALL FROZEN.

Gravy!!!! A mediocre meal can be saved with delicious gravy and a perfect meal can be ruined with poor gravy.
Bisto and oxo have no place in my gravy.

I also think roast potatoes need to be perfect. Other things you can get away with being a bit less than perfect.

My roast potatoes and gravy were perfect. I don’t like roasties unfortunately. I managed to burn the sprouts however which I was gutted about as they are my favourite veg.

Hmmm. Am sure dinner would have been perfect if I hadn't forgotten to remove some of the giblets - still in their plastic bag - from the turkey before cooking for the first two hours.... Not my finest culinary moment. Other than that, it all tasted fantastic 😊

I hate any gravy except bistro, just tastes weird. Roast parsnips are lovely though.

Stuffing is the king of the Christmas dinner! No chestnuts or sausage meat or any of that shite, just classic sage and onion!

Dinner is ruined by covert parsnips in a potato tray.

They're never covert around here, I make as much parsnips by volume as potatoes and they get their own dish each. Glorious things.
