I love this tree and took a photo so I could ID it.

DH put it into some kind of app and he came up with a type but I don't believe it's correct so have come to Mumsnet to see what you guys think.

Rhododendron?

Warning! I'm fuzzy on shrubs.

You'll have to revisit it when we it's flowering so we all know Xmas Grin

Could be a magnolia. Have you seen any flowers?

Kids2Hounds3 · 25/12/2020 11:59

Eriobotrya japonica (Loquat tree)?

Bloodybridget · 25/12/2020 12:49

I think it's a pittosporum, this variety or something like. It gets small white fragrant flowers.

Gonkytonk · 25/12/2020 13:03

According to my plant ID app @Bloodybridget is correct

Pittosporum tobira, the Japanese pittosporum mentioned upthread. If it flowers it has the most incredible scent, but it’s usually a bit too cold in the UK. It’s borderline hardy here, you’d get away with it somewhere relatively frost free.

DuesToTheDirt · 25/12/2020 18:16

I vote rhododendron.
