Just watched the documentary about him. What an inspiration! Can't believe how much he has achieved at the age of 23. What a wonderful role model he is.

Agree Op I thought the same, so brave to speak out...he didn't have to. A rare beautiful young man, it warms your heart.

Milomonster · 24/12/2020 10:40

Absolutely. What a strong and inspiring mother behind him. So lovely how he remained down to earth and his mum close to him.

KindergartenKop · 24/12/2020 12:07

His mum has done a great job despite difficult circumstances. So many young footballers just use their position to get laid, he's really trying to make a difference!

Clawdy · 24/12/2020 12:38

Such an amazing young man.

unkindnessofravens · 24/12/2020 12:51

I think he's great, such a role model. His mum is right to be so proud of him and herself for how she's brought him and the rest of their family up.

SlothWithACloth · 24/12/2020 12:52

He’s amazing. I was shocked when I heard that he’s one of the most trolled people on social media. WTH is wrong with all those people?

Worriedandabitscared · 24/12/2020 12:53

I agree! His mum should be (and I'm sure she is) so very proud of him. He's a lovely man, he has a shit ton of money and he has every right to post his big houses and posh cars on Instagram and brag about his life but he actually takes time to help people and fight the government to help people etc he truly is a good person and I think thats rare, he's amazing.

0blio · 24/12/2020 13:00

He's fabulous and as others have said, a wonderful role model. I didn't know about the documentary but I'll watch it, thanks OP.

LagneyandCasey · 24/12/2020 13:21

Such a lovely lad. It's amazing what he has achieved.

The trolls are vile.

Starseeking · 24/12/2020 15:14

Where can I find the documentary please?

MrsPnut · 24/12/2020 15:18

He has said that part of his job is to make sure his mum and his siblings are set up for life whilst he is a footballer in case that’s his earning potential gone.
I think he is an amazing role model for young people and I foresee great things for his future.

MathsWhizz11 · 25/12/2020 22:10

@Starseeking The documentary is on BBC IPlayer

fussychica · 25/12/2020 22:25

We call him Lord Rashford of Wythenshaw here as if he carries on being such a great role model and achieving his goals to help others as well as scoring on the pitch that's what he should land up being one day. It would make a change for someone who actually deserved it to get that kind of recognition.

alltheadrenalin · 25/12/2020 22:28

Him and his family, brought a tear to my eye

Blowingagale · 25/12/2020 22:41

Yes brilliant especially that he was quietly getting on with the good stuff well before the pandemic. I’m sure there are other people in public life - celebrities, business people, politicians and sports stars doing the same in unobtrusive ways, not for show.

He’s lovely.
ohfourfoxache · 26/12/2020 01:45

Absolutely love him

He’s done more to help than most elected politicians

The fact that he is trolled is very difficult to get my head around

grassisjeweled · 26/12/2020 02:16

He's trolled because people are jealous. Idiots.

Go Marcus!

notsodimwit · 26/12/2020 02:44

Some people just have a big kind heart ❤️ Marcus is a great role model Xmas Smile he is a genuine nice guy!

Racist, presumably? What other motivation could there be? Envy, perhaps? Nothing is stopping them for campaigning to reduce inequalities though.
MadisonAvenue · 26/12/2020 02:57

He’s wonderful.
A while ago he was asked to judge a competition for deaf children so he took the time to learn sign language beforehand.

He’s also starting a scheme to promote reading and get books to children who unfortunately don’t have access to them.

Starseeking · 26/12/2020 08:37

Thanks @MathsWhizz11, I will take a look.

Piggypiggyoinkoink · 26/12/2020 08:38

I loved the bits where he was speaking to families and the wee lad said he was a Liverpool fan, and when his cousin gave him stick for missing a header. And how his mates from school are still a huge part of his life. He’s a good ‘un, as is his mum.
