Call the Midwife - who would deliver your baby?

This has probably already been done at some point, but I have been binge watching CtMW over the last few days as its cosiness and keep calm and carry on vibe has been soothing me, and it got me thinking: which midwife would I choose to deliver my baby?

I like both the glamour and no nonsense approach of both Patsy and Trixie so I think perhaps one of those. But then for the daily visits afterwards I think Barbara would be so lovely to talk to and perhaps become friends with afterwards.

Hmmm... what do you all think?

Well to be honest first time dind,t have a mw. (born unassisted at home.) 2nd time the mw hardly did anyhthing she didn,t deliver the baby she just got their in time to catch the baby. Not saying she was bad but really no relationship with mw. So any of them from call the midwife would have done.

Definitely Nurse Crane! "Come on lass, one more push!" Grin And if there's an emergency she can shove me in her Morris Minor and take me to the community hospital where Dr Turner will be ready to crack on with a C-section!!

I'm with @Shayisgreat ! I'd need someone to put me in my place. I had two c sections, but would have been a gobby mess in natural birth 😂

lockedownloretta · 23/12/2020 20:21

Valerie dyer woukd be good as she is very down to earth

SuddenArborealStop · 23/12/2020 20:21

Oh no way is Dr Turner is getting his wooden mitts nowhere near me! If it's a c section I want it to be an emergency in an abandoned mine with one of the midwives on Christmas, only way you're guaranteed success.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 23/12/2020 20:24

@Shayisgreat

Nurse Crane or Sister Evangelina definitely. I'd feel safe in their hands but also confident that neither would take any shite from me.
This.
Vindo · 23/12/2020 20:24

Nurse Crane. Bags of experience, and just the right mix of authority and caring.

winemonster · 23/12/2020 20:26

Phyllis ❤️

Whiskyinajar · 23/12/2020 20:27

Trixie... but then I worked with a lady who worked with Jennifer Worth and she was one of the people Trixie was based on. I used to call her Trix and she used to laugh about it.

Not a drinker at all but used to enjoy life when younger

Maireas · 23/12/2020 20:27

@Clawdy - those were my thoughts exactly! Can't bear that voice!

Holothane · 23/12/2020 20:28

I love ctm I’m binge watching too again, no children but I like Sister Jullienne.

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/12/2020 20:28

Nurse Crane (no nonsense and years of experience). I can't stand Trixie.

Maireas · 23/12/2020 20:31

It's a shame Patsy left. Also a shame Barbara died! I miss them both.

TommyShelby · 23/12/2020 20:42

Sister Evangelina for me! Or Valerie/Nurse Crane. I like their no nonsense-ness! 😂

Happylittlethoughts · 23/12/2020 21:04

I'm beginning again(can't count how many times) just now 🥰🥰Definitely Chummy as I'm just Season 2 ...later on Nurse Crane

ChristmasUserName2020 · 23/12/2020 21:24

I always liked Valerie. Very sensible with a kind heart.

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/12/2020 21:34

Like a younger nurse Crane.
isawthatt · 23/12/2020 21:35

Patsy 100%

RosieLemonade · 23/12/2020 22:27

Nurse Crane. She wouldn’t take any silliness from me but I would know she cares about me.
I do love Val as well and like PP said she is like a younger Nurse Crane.
Barbara (Bethany I call her) is my favourite character but I don’t think she would be firm enough with me.

Maireas · 23/12/2020 22:30

@RosieLemonade - why do you call her Bethany?

CaptainMyCaptain · 25/12/2020 22:25

I need to know this as well.

I thought the Christmas special was a far cry from the original stories based on the books. It was very sentimental and silly - all that trapeze nonsense and Trixie going on dates in her ridiculous wardrobe. I think maybe it has run its course.

Maireas · 25/12/2020 22:28

I was thinking the same, @CaptainMyCaptain, the early series were so good in comparison. Maybe it has run it's course.

jessstan1 · 25/12/2020 23:30

Sister Julienne, Phyllis Crane or Shelagh Turner. However I love all of them.

RosieLemonade · 26/12/2020 19:21

I just think she seems more like a Bethany. I’ve never renamed a character before or since.
