Had delivery from
Iceland booked today between 9-11 pm
Had email this morning about 8 am
Sayimg dispatched and what items missing ? Thought that was a little strange as seems early to be doing a delivery shop that os over 12 hrs away, tesco normally done kist a few hrs before
But figured they must store in large fridge / freezer etc
Anyway shopping arrived just after 11pm and driver put ok doorstop and was gone
Frozen food boxes were starting to go soggy , felt some of food frozen so ok bit couple items felt a little soft but as sort of a pastry item my dh said may be like that so put on my freezer and thought will
Check tomorrow to see if same consistency , also quite wet counter top from freezer bags
Started putting some cupboard bits away but found in bags with crisp my bacon and kids snack attack ham things and then in another bag with breAd my milk
So do drivers bag the stuff up outside ? Or is it sent in carrier bags which means my fridge stuff has not been refrigerated
Tesco / asda fridge stuff all in bags together as is frozen etc
I have packed it all Way and emailed to find out but just wondered if anyone knew their procedure as I don't use them much and last time I literally had just freezer and cupboard bits

I've always had a good service from Iceland. I'm so sorry if items you really wanted were omitted and I imagine there will plenty of those from everywhere at this time of year.

A couple of years ago I did a Waitrose order for Christmas and there were loads of substitutions, a couple of which were nothing like I had wanted! Yet I would say Waitrose is generally OK, Sainsbury's and Tesco too.

Christmas is a funny time of year for food deliveries and even worse this year. I hope you manage to get what you want between now and Christmas.

I think you should bin the lot

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 23/12/2020 00:06

I didn't mind missing items as nothing too important more the fact my fridge stuff packed in with cupboard stuff and Im not sure its been refrigerated or not
And frozen stuff felt like although not defrosted was starting too

When I moved this year I tried Iceland delivery for convenience and was quite disappointed. First delivery I heard nothing, delivery never turned up tried calling for two days eventually got through and they fobbed me off with some nonsense that the van broke down and then proceeded to try and reassure me all of my products were still being stored correctly? I stated that I didn't want products that had been in a van over night and wanted the shop I ordered they sent again late (so four days in total) my order which had items missing, items bordering out of date and 4 x 1kg bags of potatoes?? Made a complaint and got partial refund and a voucher so thought I would give them one last chance, ordered 2 weeks later and pretty much the same again, late, lack of communication and food in a terrible condition, I haven't used them since.

I’m pretty sure that you get deliveries from your local store with Iceland (which we don’t with Sainsbury’s, despite the store being 10 minutes away, my shopping cones from 20 miles away). So it seems very variable.
Everyone near me is really pleased with the Iceland service we get. On time, polite, pretty good on having stuff. I’m getting a freezer-filler delivery tomorrow as I’ve just bought a new chest freezer.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/12/2020 06:55

Mine is always bagged seperately fridge / freeezer / cupboard

vampirethriller · 23/12/2020 07:35

Mine is always in separate bags. I've never had any problems with Iceland except once I got someone else's crisps.

SmellyPooHead · 23/12/2020 08:03

I've never had a problem with Iceland. They are my favourite home delivery service

DuzzyFuck · 23/12/2020 08:10

Unless I'm missing something here they arrive in a refrigerated van? So everything will have been refrigerated for the period of time they're in the van and what is bagged together shouldn't make any difference?

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 23/12/2020 09:14

@Duzzyfuck I don't think the whole van is refrigerated just diffident deparemts as one bit is frozen
As my crisps etc were not cold and you wouldn't want them
Stored in a fridge for a couple hrs
Rolls were also not cold so clearly not been in fridge , also i ordered dishwasher tabs etc they wouldn't be refrigerated
I have emailed them and will call local store to check as well now open if I can get through

Aah ok; the only experience I have with refrigerated vans is a friend who has a catering company and I knew his entire van is one big fridge. I didn't realise others had different compartments; very clever!

Have had numerous Iceland deliveries since the start of the first lockdown. They always message and confirm what, if anything, is missing. Never had any issues.

One item they do tend to pass over separately are eggs

Always easy to get a booking and drivers always friendly.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 23/12/2020 13:13

Spoke to iceland and they confirm fridge stuff should be in seperate bag so are replacing and replacing all freezer stuff as some was starting to thaw and taking other stuff back to dispose of
Between 12-2 so hopefully in next 45 mins , still in fridge freezer at the moment as I didn't want a puddle of defrosted food on my floor

I wish I had rung and complained now OP - got my delivery yestaerday at 5pm and the frozen was definitely starting to thaw - yorkshire puddings were bendable. I bunged it all in the freezer and hoped for the best but I was fuming especially as they had run out of...pigs in blankets, gravy, garlic bread, and fish bloody fingers.
Order was placed Monday morning. Whole delivery just felt damp and I was utterly pissed off but too tired to do anything but stick it in fridge freezer and cross fingers. But nope, will not be using again, I don't trust the afternoon delivery slot meaning it hasn't been defrosting on a van all day now...by all means if anyone works for them and can confirm procedures, please do.

NoGuestsCIothingOptionaI · 24/12/2020 12:41

and to add salt in the wound, they delivered the potato products but not the free baking trays (which were the only reason I had bought them in the first place). Grrr. Xmas Angry

Belledan1 · 24/12/2020 13:54

I use them quite alot. My local store is very efficient and never have any problems. The odd occasion sine dates are a bit close.

LoudBatPerson · 24/12/2020 13:59

I tried to use Iceland last year to get some stuff for a family bbq. The frozen parts arrived partially thawed and the fridge parts were frozen. The did refund the whole order though, but I did have to do a mad dash to the shops.

That was the first and last time I tried them.
