Dentists: temp fix for broken veneer?

Any dentists or other knowledgeable people around to help?

This evening I was eating a chewy sweet and the bottom of my veneer broke off. It actually doesn't look bad and it's not painful in itself but ofcourse I do keep catching my tongue.

I will be calling my dentist first thing in the morning but I'm aware that a few days before Christmas, in the current circumstances (we are in tier 4) they might not be able to see/treat me. Is there anything I can do/buy/use to keep from ripping my tongue to shreds??

Emery board used minimally just to blunt the sharpness

Tempting. I'm worried about damaging the underlying tooth though?

Just the very edge of the sharpness. You won’t damage the tooth

Thanks - if I can't get an appointment tomorrow I will give it a (careful) go

Spoken to the dentist and because I'm not in pain they can't see me till end of January. Does anyone rate the dental repair kits you can get for £5 on Amazon?

Word of warning. A bit of my veneer came away and was repaired with a bit of filling by dentist and then the whole thing came away while biting into a chocolate bar.... traumatic!
