If you don't take or can't take HRT, what supplements do you take that help with menopause symptoms?

I'm just wondering what anyone is finding helpful. I've been on the menopause board but it's quite HRT focused - anyone getting through it with lifestyle changes/supplements?

Magnesium Glycinate for anxiety and DIM to balance my hormones.

I was unable to have HRT and hit the full force of menopause at 52. I took Sage tablets which took a week or so to stop the hot flushes. I was having flushes a couple of times an hour nonstop. After a while the Sage tablets stopped working and my GP put me on Gabapentin as they also stop hot flushes. They work like a dream. I have 1 a day and haven't had an issue at all. I stillseem to feel the heaT rather easily but no more hot flushes thank god

I've been using Menapol plus for a few years. Makes a big difference.

Hi
So I’ve been taking hrt since October and I’m on 100 evorel and I’ve been getting peri symptoms back again. Mostly hot flushes and more recently kind of blurry vision and the eye hospital said it’s a change in hormones and probably dry eyes so they gave me drops which haven’t made a slight bit of difference and I just don’t know what to do??

I took HRT for a bit for the hot flushes and felt great but it co-incided with me starting to have migraines which cause strange sensations in my face, neck and arm. Sage for the sweats, red clover for the rage and a good multivitamin worked for a good while but didn't cut it with the paranoia and every other month pits of gloom. Now I take Menopace Max, tumeric, omega 369 and starflower oil and feel much more my normal self. Yoga two or three times a week decent diet and getting out for walks too. I still get the migraine when I'm tired or stressed though and would be interested to hear if anyone else has similar? 53 and hoping this rubbish will be done with soon.

I take the supplement Complete Woman from Boots and have found it great..had all the hot flushes etc but found that helped and gave me energy . Also joined a gym and did lots of circuit training. Gave up wine except for the odd occasion as hindering my sleep and making me feel awful. Also gave up coffee as gave me palpitations.
Thought l did nothing but looking back those things all helped and l feel great.

Effervescent magnesium supplements made me feel better almost overnight. The muscle pains and cramps seemed to go away, my joints were less stiff, and my heartbeat is less irregular. That said, I could just have been suffering from magnesium deficiency!

I don't have any symptoms I can attribute to meno/peri. I sometimes wonder if that is because I get a lot of exercise (lifestyle related).

I always was caffeine sensitive -- a lot of lifestyle things that are supposed to make peri/menopause harder were never good options for me, anyway.

TonTonMacoute · 17/03/2021 13:50

Perimenopause definitely had the worst symptoms for me, the night sweats and hot flushes were terrible.

My last period was just about a year ago, and the only symptom I really have is incredibly stiff knees, so I have started taking glucosamine for that.

Not sure if in peri or menopause but almost 50 have been taking sage for past few months which has helped but have got nasty anxiety and insomnia recently and trying lots of things but nothing! Not sure that i want HRT yet so trying menopace max this week
