Dentist and universal credit

I’ve got a dental appt tomorrow morning; haven’t gone for years but one of my top teeth feels wobbly so think I need to get it checked . Terrified I’m going to lose it - hopefully not .

I’m in receipt of universal credit just now -
So assuming I won’t have to pay (Scotland) - what proof do I need? Can’t find my award notice anywhere but I can access my journal and show them monthly statement . Would that be proof enough usually?

Getting UC doesn't automatically entitle you to free dental treatment

That’s what I thought, says something about zero earnings though which is me at present unfortunately . Hopefully it isn’t too expensive !

If you have a low income you can apply to get help with costs

Says you need to show evidence of entitlement and sign a form

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 20/12/2020 22:01

Dont you get a letter sent through every 6 months or a year or whatever stating that you are entitled to full help with costs of dental care?

I remember getting those letters years ago with tax credits (although if my income doesnt pick up after this covid nonsense then I will be back on there again).

I dont think they'll just take your word for it. You will need ti have whatever code/certificate they need to pass on to have the treatment paid by the NHS/government.

Shortfeet · 20/12/2020 22:01

If you cnet find evidence don’t worry.
The dentist/ receptionist ticks a box on the form to say whether evidence is shown or not.
Because of Covid they should sign the form on your behalf and tick the universal credit box

Getting UC doesn't automatically entitle you to free dental treatment

That's bloody scandalous.
