Recommendations for lovely Christmas films for a 3 year old (that aren't tedious to watch with him).

OP posts:
GlummyMcGlummerson · 20/12/2020 00:15

Arthur Christmas

Olaf's frozen adventure, if you have Disney plus

HearMeSnore · 20/12/2020 00:32

Another vote for Muppet Christmas Carol. DD was 3 when she first saw it. I loved hearing her chuckling at Kermit's face popping up on the menu screen. (Heeheehee... Dere's a fwog!)

Snow dogs. My son used to love this when he was young. He used to want it on every day.

Snow dogs.

All of the above and another vote for The Star

@SoggyBiscuitss my DS too. He loves monsters. Not sure how I feel about it Hmm

DD watches Father Christmas on 4 on Demand constantly. She is 3 and loved it last year too. She doesn't yet have the concentration for longer films

Great suggestions here. Just be warned that mickeys once upon a Christmas - second episode - goes into some detail over why Father Christmas doesn’t exist (though he has a fleeting appearance right at the end). Wish someone had told me before I put it on, though luckily my 3 year old appears unscathed!

My 3&4 year olds have enjoyed
Home alone, the grinch, Arthur Christmas,

We found a nice American animation on Amazon prime called The Snowy Day, based on a book of the same name. My 5 and 2 year olds were transfixed. It's about a little boy and his journey to his Grandma's house down the road and what happens along the way.

Mytinyman · 20/12/2020 08:09

Olive the other reindeer, my three year old adores it. The whole thing is on youtube Xmas Smile

Needhelpwithaquestion · 20/12/2020 08:16

Yes mine also like the pantos

I haven’t heard about ‘the star’ one but nice to hear it is about the birth of Jesus

suchasoftersin · 20/12/2020 08:23

Angela's Christmas on Netflix. Its a beautiful film and my 3 year old was obsessed with it last year.

Camomila · 20/12/2020 08:52

I haven’t heard about ‘the star’ one but nice to hear it is about the birth of Jesus

Its the Nativity story from the POV of the animals. I'm saving it for Christmas eve Smile

HearMeSnore · 20/12/2020 09:04

Also try "A Christmas Miracle" (formerly known as "Small One"). It's quite short but very lovely. I loved it as a kid and still get a bit emotional at the end.

HearMeSnore · 20/12/2020 10:54

For clarity, it's this one. Released on DVD under the title "A Christmas Miracle" but there's another film with the same name so I don't know which is the official title now!

Gruffalo is currently on here although not Christmassy
Father Christmas
Bear Hunt (again not Christmassy)

Having just been reminded of BBC Pantos I might find one of those next
