Are holiday prices high or low atm? Is this a good price?! (Summer half term)

I’ve never been away summer half term so don’t have any experience as to prices

Turkey
5 star delphin
AI
6 nights
Sea view family room
Inc flights and transfers.
Inc full covid cover and more general travel insurance

£2k
One adult and two children

£2k is my budget so ok to pay it but if that holiday for summer half term is usually more like £1500, then I’ll wait to book.

Many thanks

I can't comment on price as we usually go in a different part of the year but we've been to the dolphin Palace and it was fabulous.

Hellotheresweet · 19/12/2020 05:56

Oh thank you!

How far from airport? Does it have a aqua park or at least some good slides (for an 11 year old adrenaline seeker)

OP, you wrote Delphin and the other poster Dolphin. Which resort are you looking at?

inquietant · 19/12/2020 06:08

I can't get past the idea of being brave enough to book for May 2021!

Hellotheresweet · 19/12/2020 06:19

Delphin Sorry

Brave? Confused

Full insurance cover and no way am I putting life on hold. I’ll lose excess but totally happy to take risk.

Never been but sounds a good price to me!! If you have got Covid cover and won't lose any money or you can change the dates then why not!! Enjoy op xx

ihatethecold · 19/12/2020 07:12

Great price.

BarbaraofSeville · 19/12/2020 07:41

Sounds like a good price. We normally pay about a grand for a 2 person package holiday, but B&B and in term time.

So while that price is obviously more, you're getting an extra person, AI and at a more expensive time of year, so I'd be surprised if you could get that holiday for significantly less.

I've heard of families of 4 paying £3-4k for a week in somewhere like Mallorca at that time of year so cheap compared to that.

Thank you

Any thoughts on travel republic? Never booked with them before

Worth checking the price with Jet2holidays if they do that hotel, prices usually good, mostly daytime flights and have been excellent with cancellations and rebooking due to covid.

BitchIAmFromChicago · 19/12/2020 09:27

I’ve used travel republic loads and never had a problem!

jesper1 · 19/12/2020 09:34

Travel republic have been terrible through this pandemic. I am still waiting on money from April and had to contact hotel and airline myself in the end to move another holiday as TR just did not respond. In fact they switched off their phone lines Honestly would avoid.

Jet 2 seem to have been really good at moving and refunding so maybe look at them

Jet2 and Hays have been great at refunding due to Covid, Travel Republic less so.

In terms of prices, Jan sales have just started, the first weekend of Jan is typically the peak booking weekend so some operators give extra savings then - so 8/9/10 next year.

Also check for customer promises, some are allowing free changes or vouchers for choosing to cancel (usually you'd lose your deposit).

I'd go customer service and reputation over price next year, there's still uncertainty, so you want to make sure you'll get looked after if you can't travel on your booked holiday. I carried over this year's holiday to next year, so my half term is already booked.
