Flu Jab reaction - anyone else have this?

Had my first flu jab yesterday - all good.

But today the site is red and swollen. I feel totally fine, so I guess this is just a local reaction.

Anyone else have this?

Yep. Same here, for a few days. Nurse said it was fairly normal and nothing to worry about

OverTheRainbow88 · 18/12/2020 21:07

Yes the jab site went really red and very swollen for about 3 days. I had a weird bout of major anxiety as well for those 3 days. Then all fine again

OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 18/12/2020 21:09

Oh cool - well, sorry you guys had reactions too, but glad I am not alone.

I had my first flu jab on Tuesday. Painful arm and feeling fatigue and aches since. Hoping to feel better tomorrow. I read that a reaction means your immune system is doing it's job. So that made me feel less miserable.

HaggisBurger · 18/12/2020 21:12

Yup. Big red swollen band across my arm too. Went after 3-4 days

LongBlobson · 18/12/2020 21:14

Yes, painful arm, achey and fatigued the day after the jab.

Gingernaut · 18/12/2020 21:15

Yup. Absolutely normal.

Nearly 20 years ago, I had a jab and the reaction was bizarre.

I fell ill with flu like symptoms for about 24 hours. Hot sweats, cold shivering sweats, dry fever, snotty nose, headache the works.

All over within one of the worst weekends I've ever experienced.

Apparently, the dose was 'a bit strong'.

Nothing like it has every happened again.

Gingernaut · 18/12/2020 21:16

ever happened again. Obviously.

Almostslimjim · 18/12/2020 21:19

Yes, hot, red and swollen at the site of injection is a common and normal side effect of all injections. One of the worst for injection site pain is tetnus. People often report being unable to touch the site for a few days.

cheesecrackersandcorona · 18/12/2020 21:29

Totally normal op. Although this year I hardly felt a thing. Apparently the needles being used are much thinner/smaller than ever before.

UserEleventyNine · 18/12/2020 21:29

I (inadvertently) found that holding it under a hot shower helped my sore arm post flu jab. A couple of days after the jab it was a cold morning so I turned up the temperature of the shower a bit, and afterwards the soreness had gone.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 18/12/2020 21:31

Yes I had a red swollen patch for a few days after. Seemed to be a bit worse for me this year than previous years.

Rhine · 18/12/2020 21:33

This happened to me last year. Itched for a few days then went down.

LubaLuca · 18/12/2020 21:34

I get the hot, achy arm most years, and this year was a bit worse than usual. The only year I felt quite unwell was when I had the pneumonia jab at the same time.

Bargebill19 · 18/12/2020 21:36

Yes, and my arm is still very painful, right up to my ear and neck a fortnight later. Plus I have a rotten cold on top.
Third year running this has happened and this is the worst. I won’t be having the flu jab in the future.
