Where can I go to the toilet?!

PoptartPoptart · 18/12/2020 19:05

In London?
We are going into central London at the weekend but I am a bit concerned that as all restaurants and bars will be closed there will be nowhere to go to the toilet!
We are going late afternoon/evening so the shops will be shut.
Help!

It’s tier 3, it makes no difference if your are also T3. Stay at home

viccat · 18/12/2020 20:10

Charing Cross train station would be a good bet - plus good photo opportunities nearby for your DS.

MobLife · 18/12/2020 20:11

OP is it really essential that he come to London now in order to do this??

LagneyandCasey · 18/12/2020 20:12

Email the car park company to see if their toilets will be open.

You can get pee bags from Amazon to keep in the car in case of emergency.

I would wait until after xmas though if you can. It will be hideous this weekend.

PoptartPoptart · 18/12/2020 20:15

@Chloemol - believe me, this is the last thing I really want to be doing.
However, DS needs to do this work for his GCSE’s.
We are ultimately going for a walk. Outside. With a camera. That’s all.

@LagneyandCasey - that’s a good idea, I’ll email the car park to see if they will be open.
I also might look on Amazon Prime for a pee bag Smile

Covent garden 50p tho on the piazza plus in 4he shops below in covent garden I noticed a new loo. . Charing x always has queues but ok.

LondonJax · 18/12/2020 20:19

Stick to Charing Cross. It's right on The Strand with a taxi rank outside and a nice sweep round from The Strand onto the forecourt so he'd get some great photos. Trafalgar Square is at the end of the street (10 minutes walk) and there's a traffic island in the centre of the road near Charing Cross station where he could get some nice shots of traffic.

The various galleries are just on Trafalgar Square too so there's the chance of lots of street shots there.

And the loos at Charing Cross are free of charge (as are those at Waterloo).

StanfordPines · 18/12/2020 20:20

It’s crazy that he is required to do this for his GCSES.

What GCSE is it?

nitgel · 18/12/2020 20:21

Says open to 11 pound tho

Where can I go to the toilet?!
nitgel · 18/12/2020 20:22

Covent garden I'm always in town and usually use Mark's and spencer or john lewis

snookercue · 18/12/2020 20:23

I don't believe for a minute that it's a requirement of his course to travel into London in the middle of tier 3 restrictions. Add to that it's him and not you that is doing the GCSE

Hi Op
I can appreciate your concerns of being on hunt for decent clean toilets,
(just wondering does Your Council London bourgh have a Radar key system for disabled toilets access then?
As they do in wales where I am at the council provides a Reader key for those kinds of toilets,
All you have to do is provide show a Medical certificate Award letter, from PIP Benefit etc,
To your council office .
You have to pay 5pounds for this Rader key an gives you access to any disability type toilets in your town/locality .
Its quite handy .
I suffer from weak bladder issues,
And with these various Lockedowns restrictiond going on here there anywhere, itts never ending worry where?if there is enough toilets open for visitors? When do they stay open until?where are they located?

Its definately not a weird question to ask, just a Annoying reflection part of the very weird, surreal sign of our times..[Xmas Confused

Best of Luck to your son, finding the best photo opportunities in the big city.
Hope he gets the GCSE he wants, sure he will.

It will be quiet the burbs will be heaving

girasol · 18/12/2020 20:27

I’m in a similar boat to you OP so following closely! We have to come to London (Chelsea) on Monday morning to renew our daughter’s Spanish passport (it has to be done in person at the Spanish Consulate and if anyone wants to question if this is necessary they can eff right off, especially if they voted for Brexit).
Places like Pret are still meant to be open for takeaway but does anyone know if they’re closing their customer toilets? Hubby wants to drove down so we’d have to make a special trip to a train station. Peter Jones should be open but no idea about customer toilets.

IrishMumInLondon2020 · 18/12/2020 20:30

Looks in Peter Jones are definitely open.

IrishMumInLondon2020 · 18/12/2020 20:31

Loos even !

girasol · 18/12/2020 20:32

Thank you @IrishMumInLondon2020Grin

UrghThisIsHard · 18/12/2020 20:35

Somebody mentioned it already but lockdownloo.com saved me many a time during lockdown 1!

PoptartPoptart · 18/12/2020 20:35

Thanks to everyone who has given good advice.

@ StanfordPines - he is in year 11 and doing GCSE Photography. His portfolio is based on the theme of movement, specifically modes of transport, and he needs varying shots of city travel.

@ LondonJax - that’s a great idea, thank you.

@ snookercue - add to that it's him and not you that is doing the GCSE - he is 15 so I am going with him!

@nitgel

Says open to 11 pound tho
I can't believe that's a profitable business! Shock It's disgraceful that there's clearly such a desperate need for toilets that a business like this could actually be profitable.
tectonicplates · 18/12/2020 20:57

@Queenoftheashes London is in tier 3, so all the gyms are closed.

EssexCat · 18/12/2020 21:04

Nope gyms are open in tier 3.

Nunoftheother · 18/12/2020 21:19

For the benefit of your son's GCSE coursework, it's "buses", not "busses".
