You all tell your kids they won't like various foods...right?

Mine are very nearly 11, and very nearly 14. But, here I am trying to convince them that they will NOT like the various (small) cheeses I have bought for Christmas Xmas Grin

I love licorice, the kids hate it. so anything I want to scoff on my own is licorice flavoured Grin

Oooh, there's an idea!

Except dd1 is as un-fussy as I am Hmm

It'd work on dd2 though!

Oh yes
We totally overuse the “you won’t like it it’s spicy” line re. special crisps etc Blush

user1493413286 · 18/12/2020 18:05

Oh yes “it’s spicy” gets used a lot

FoxyTheFox · 18/12/2020 18:06

"Sorry kiddo, its got beer in it..."

lucysmam · 18/12/2020 18:09

Grin Foxy dd1 also enjoys the odd slurp of wine from my glass.

There's no hope for the cheese, is there?

I'm more of a "how can you not like...." kinda person. I'm not really into sweet stuff so savoury stuff is more likely to be in my house.
Honey however is the devils snot and my child is welcome to it.
"Its spicey" wouldn't work here because anything with spice in it gives me heartburnXmas Sad

When my children ask what I'm making for dinner I always tell them 'poison'. They still eat it.

lucysmam · 18/12/2020 19:34

CountFosco I have never done that! I'll try it tomorrow Grin

I always tell dd1, when she asks, that my tea is not ok, in the hopes she'll share hers. So far though I've had no luck 🤷‍♀️

@CountFosco

that's what I tell dc when I want them to try something new. for some season poison is irresistable Confused
AngelOfTheSilence · 18/12/2020 19:48

I always used the ‘it’s spicy, you won’t like it’ line until exdh decided it would be a good idea to let the dc try various spicy foods so they’d get used to it Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin
Still manage the ‘it’s got alcohol in’ with drinks, although dd10 has started to cotton on that drinking at 10am is ‘mostly’ frowned upon Xmas Shock

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/12/2020 20:14

Coffee flavoured, you wouldn't like it

pollysproggle · 18/12/2020 20:55

If I don't want to share something I tell my 4 year old he won't like it because it's too spicy.

WinterStrawbsAreLikeTurnip · 18/12/2020 21:00

DS is only 3 but unless it's alcohol he's been allowed to try anything no matter how expensive. Kiddo didn't appreciate my vindaloo mind.

BigBaublesGalore · 18/12/2020 21:17

I tell my kids they will love it and they refuse to try... reverse psychology
