Center parks - (first world Christmas problems)

We have just gone into Tier 3, have the 23rd -27th booked at Center parks - so in the free travel bit.
Centerparks is saying on the website they are not welcoming guests from Tier 3 - has anyone managed to get through to them on the phone who is already in Tier 3 and had to cancel their break during the 23-27th????

About half way down is a link to a form that you have to complete:

www.centerparcs.co.uk/village-news/general-news.html

Roxymoomoo · 17/12/2020 15:31

Yes I saw that.
I was wondering if anyone from Tier 3 has had confirmation that even the Christmas break is cancelled.

I dont want to cancel all of my bookings then fill out the form to be contacted and told - its ok during the Christmas period.

Well the moral thing to do would be to not go. Why don't you phone and rearrange for another date? We are also in southeast, just been moved to a tier 3 and having a "springmas" now instead.

Looks like they are being quite responsive on their Facebook page. I can’t find anyone else asking your specific question (although haven’t looked at it all!), so would be worth posting there.

Good luck!

EvilPea · 17/12/2020 15:57

My quick googling I did earlier (although only from news sites not official) suggests it isn’t ok for restaurants and hospitality even during those dates. as there is some hypocrisy about the fact you can cram into a house together but not go and socially distance at a restaurant I do expect it to be clarified. But I wouldn’t assume a good result for your holiday

EvilPea · 17/12/2020 15:58

Just to clarify that was for hospitality in a tier 3 during the Christmas period

goalpostmover · 17/12/2020 16:05

Christmas bubbles are within your own home. Center Parcs won't let you stay if you live in a tier 3 area.

Im hoping the next announcement in 2 weeks takes us down a tier otherwise we'll have to cancel our Jan break.

Roxymoomoo · 17/12/2020 16:16

Thanks if I could get through on the phone then I wouldn't be on mumsnet.....(probably a lot of people with the same question as me from the south east ringing up)
Thanks Evil pea we are having the hospitality debate and it does seem like that is the issue that we take our Tier 3 ness with us. There are some things were still allowed to do though like go swimming, but I think you are probably right.

Thanks entirely necessary i hadnt thought of facepoo.

Im so upset I had purposefully not gotten to excited about this and it all seemed to be ok, this year has been so tough.

We were supposed to be going for Christmas but cancelled a couple of weeks ago - I just filled in the online form and got an email the next day and then the refund shortly after.

We were supposed to be going with another family who live in Tier 3 (I'm in Tier 2 currently) and they got an email informing them that people form Tier 3 shouldn't come to CP and should cancel (but I didn't 't get that email) so I think CP 'know' where you're travelling from and you won't be admitted but they want you to do the cancelling iyswim? I got an email about how CP isn't the right setting for Christmas bubbles and only single family groups would be admitted etc.

I was hugely disappointed too - but so much of the site/activites will be closed that it won't be that much different to being at home just with a couple of opportunities to swim and having to ration the roast potatoes because of the teeny oven!

Roxymoomoo · 17/12/2020 16:39

Yes I understood the Tier 3 bit but we are or were now travelling in the relaxed period so i didnt know. I totally accept that we wont get in - its not clear on their advice i suppose 1 line saying this includes the relaxed period 23-27th of December and Id be filling out that form which would be good business planning for them because were at Whinfell which is still open and they can move other guests there.

Its good to hear you were refunded quickly.

The following is from sky news direct. You can travel between tiers but ONLY to meet your bubble in a private home, place of worship or outside. So you cannot go ahead with your trip.

"Individuals will also be able to travel between tiers and across the whole of the UK without restriction within the five-day period for the purposes of meeting with their bubbles."

"Between 23 and 27 December, people across the UK will be able to meet with other households to form one Christmas bubble - but only in a private home, a place of worship or public outdoor spaces"

Someone on the Elveden CP Facebook page posted this reply earlier which seems to say its a no I think...

I got through and cancelled but even the woman on the phone didnt seem 100% sure - but anyway.
I wasnt bubbling in centerparks its was just to get out of this wretched house really and swim and see the Christmas lights.
But anyway now were arranging to bubble up (like everyone else I actually realise now that missed that having booked) and have a more social Christmas which has cheered me up and i shall console myself with the refund.

still a teeny bit sad....

Sorry it was cancelled op I would be gutted too. Hope you still have a lovely Christmas x

LastChristmas20 · 17/12/2020 20:31

We were meant to be there last weekend.

I filled in the cancellation form on the website and had a full refund the next day.
