Yes, for problems and emergencies, not checkups. Sounds like you need to be seen.

Roystonv · 16/12/2020 22:06

Can only comment for mine. Worried about pain in tooth. Rang up. Was called back at agreed time for telephone assessment. Appointment made to suit a week later with instruction to ring if got worse. Had normal appt, x rays etc. Seeing hygienist next week. Very impressed, cross fingers for you.

Will call first thing. Hate this!

Yes my dentist is doing routine checkups & emergencies obvs.

PurplePansy05 · 16/12/2020 22:46

Mine still doesn't offer regular check ups. I'm pregnant now and haven't been seen by a dentist for 13 months now. I'm actually petrified I'm going to end up having some issues that can't be sorted out in pregnancy.

Does anyone know when they're actually due to start providing normal service? This is ridiculous (I'm in Wales).

Heatherjayne1972 · 16/12/2020 22:48

Yes we’ve been working normally since June!

ScalpHelp · 16/12/2020 22:50

I’m in England, my NHS dentist restarted routine checkups in summer. I guess I’m lucky!

Even if your dentist isn’t, there should be some provision for more urgent issues. I think 111 has a dental problem option now, so try them if your own dentist can’t point you in the right direction

Magissa · 16/12/2020 23:29

I'm in W London. I went to the dentist this week. She said they are working as normal. The only difference is you can only get through the door if you have an actual appointment. You need to phone to make one. Only two allowed in small waiting room at a time.

LondonStone · 16/12/2020 23:30

I’m in the north east and my dentist is fully operational. I had a check up a few weeks ago, saw the hygienist two weeks ago, having two fillings on 22nd. Worth noting I am private though.

QueenOfLabradors · 16/12/2020 23:33

Ring first thing in the morning OP, our NHS dentist spent half of July and most of August dealing with the post lockdown round one emergencies but has since been happy to take bookings as normal.

Frazzled2207 · 16/12/2020 23:33

Wowsers mine definitely is not. I did get my son seen (broken tooth) but I had to practically beg.

Eyre89 · 16/12/2020 23:40

This happened to me with a wisdom tooth they temporarily filled it as it was causing pain. The temporary filling broke. They then agreed to remove it as it was causing pain.

My mil had to wait 2 weeks, she's being seen tomorrow, as she had part of her tooth near the front break but when asked she said it wasn't causing pain so she wasn't seen as an "urgent" emergency. She's lucky that it is still pain free.

RavingAnnie · 16/12/2020 23:41

My dentist is offering everything and has been for months - check ups, hygienist appts etc.

Peakedin1997 · 16/12/2020 23:57

Mine reopened in November

Ffsnosexallowed · 17/12/2020 09:18

Good news - they are working. Bad news, not an emergency so can't get appointment until Monday, and won't get any treatment over and above pain killers until after Christmas.
