Amazon voucher for team

Ideasplease322 · 16/12/2020 21:01

I usually buy my team wine and chocolateS for Christmas, everyone working from home.

A £20 amazon voucher each? Impersonal?

Does Amazon really need more money from lockdown? Maybe consider a gift card for a high street retailer that also offers online shopping, somewhere like M&S?

LagneyandCasey · 16/12/2020 22:40

I agree with M&S, and suggest they get themselves some Christmas treats.

Ideasplease322 · 17/12/2020 00:47

Does m & s do email vouchers? The point is I won’t physically see anyone to hand over a present. You can text an amazon voucher.

John Lewis? I got e-vouchers from John Lewis from my work today.

emilyfrost · 17/12/2020 01:35

Amazon vouchers are the best way to go; you can get pretty much anything you want from there.

Any other shop is really specific and might not suit everyone. Just ignore the Amazon-whingers.

Ydoodle · 17/12/2020 03:20

Think amazon voucher is a good one. Huge range of stuff so people can buy what they want.

Furries · 17/12/2020 03:25

Could you maybe do a multi-shop voucher (think one is called love2shop?).

I’m grateful, but not a huge fan, of vouchers for one shop (as I tend to use vouchers for things I “need” and some “nice” vouchers don’t always cover this. But a multi shop voucher would mean that they have numerous options without using the “A” giant!

dontgobaconmyheart · 17/12/2020 04:11

I would go with this yes. Nobody self isolating or staying at home out of health concerns (or decency) is going to be able to spend vouchers for high street stores that can't be used online and not all of them can be. I'd also worry about them going bust and the voucher being moot if it wasn't a larger brand, such are these awful times. I don't think love2shop vouchers are very good for online spending either.

£20 doesn't get you much at John Lewis so I'd go with amazon or one of the supermarkets if not.

squeekums · 17/12/2020 04:19

Id want amazon, more versatile
Not some specialty store where id probably have to put in extra just to get something

AlwaysCheddar · 17/12/2020 08:04

M&S it John Lewis. Both do e-cards.

Lilac95 · 17/12/2020 08:09

I’d go for amazon, depending on your staff. My team are a mix of ages so an M&S voucher etc wouldn’t be so appreciated buy the younger crowd or people without children etc so I think amazon Is a good idea. People can treat themselves, buy a gift to take pressure of themselves or groceries. Failing that I’d go for something more accessible like Sainsburys/Tesco. John Lewis and M&S aren’t somewhere easy to find in most places and if they want groceries from it or don’t have a need for anything then it’ll just go to waste

Proudpeacock · 17/12/2020 08:15

I have bought M&S e gift cards via their website for my team. They are all women on their 30's and 40's though so likely to shop there. If I had a younger team I would have gone for Amazon for the wider range.

Sophiesdog2020 · 17/12/2020 08:18

Don’t do love2shop - my kids get bought them as birthday and Christmas presents by relatives/friends sometimes and they are not easy to spend, even in shops.

I’d want Amazon, M&S or maybe one of the supermarkets, but think Amazon is the most versatile.

We use JL for electrical items and phones to give us 2yr warranty, but not much else, so I wouldn’t particularly want them, as we might only shop with them once a year or less.

It’s probably too late now, but many places do food and drink hampers of varying prices. I received one earlier this week, 2 bottles of wine and some nice snack items. My DS (started first professional job last week) received a chocolate based one yesterday.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/12/2020 08:23

I agree with @Proudpeacock.

M&S if mostly women aged 30 or above, Amazon if younger, especially men.

If they don't buy M&S clothes, then can always be used for treaty food or booze. We got a £20 M&S voucher last Christmas and used it to get the NYE meal deal and some party nibbles.

Not John Lewis unless very middle class demographic. Many people would struggle to find something to buy for £20 in there and it would likely cost more than their normal purchases so wouldn't see the value, plus there aren't as many around as other shops.

Ilovechoc12 · 17/12/2020 08:25

Perfect - practical- I’d love it
(Amazon voucher) other vouchers more hassle

Ideasplease322 · 17/12/2020 09:13

Team all men! Think m&s would go to wife or mother.

Think I will stick to amazon. £20 is more than I would normally spend (there are ten of them) but even at £20 it seems stingy!

Back to wine next year

Amazon is fine plus you can put a personal message with the voucher

Fandangoes · 17/12/2020 10:41

can you not get their addresses and have a bottle of wine delivered to them?

rookiemere · 17/12/2020 10:45

Probably too late to get wine delivered plus it's a good few hours work to collect 20 addresses and order individual bottles for them.
I think a voucher is fine I got £10 and was very happy with that.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/12/2020 10:50

Postage will disproportionately add to the cost of delivering individual bottles of wine plus its no less impersonal than a voucher, assuming you don't know if they drink wine and if they do, what type they like.

£20 is not stingy at all. If your normal gift is wine and chocs, its the same sort of value and you might find that people prefer it because they can choose what they buy themselves.

allthesharks · 17/12/2020 19:30

My manager sent a £15 national book token by e-mail.

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 17/12/2020 20:38

Amazon is most versatile and most likely to be used.

emilyfrost · 17/12/2020 21:58

@Fandangoes

can you not get their addresses and have a bottle of wine delivered to them?
Not everyone drinks alcohol, and of those who do not everyone likes wine.
Ideasplease322 · 17/12/2020 22:41

@Fandangoes

can you not get their addresses and have a bottle of wine delivered to them?
Seems odd to get a single bottle of wine delivered?

I don’t have all their home addresses (well I do on their personnel file, but i would need their permission to use it for this purpose) which is why I want something I can email or text.
