Propranolol and low BP?

BP this afternoon is 80/50 . For context I’m 5ft 9, BMI is high (38) and I’m feeling dreadful . Spaced out, seeing spots when I stand, very nauseated, dizzy and as if I’ve had a massive dose of diazepam or morphine to be honest . Keep thinking I’m dreaming but I’m not .

I’m on propranolol 80mg XR for palpitations (and associated anxiety), and also diagnosed with anaemia last week - I’m guessing that’s what’s pushed my BP down a bit ...

What can I do to raise it a bit? GP did say last week if I was persistently low - or started to faint - they might change meds again but I’m wary of changing as don’t want the palpitations returning !

All you can do is drink loads of water and sit with your feet up as much as possible. My husband had the same problem when he was started on beta blockers for his heart condition - his BP did eventually come up a bit.

Ring your gp today. Dh is on beta blockers and his bp is normal.

It's a common side effect of it. I have the same

Have you taken any other medication ie pain killers with it?

Are they doing anything about the palpitations? Dh is under cardio for his.

It’s hard to have them without anxiety, don’t let them tell you everyone else is just fine with it, their not.

Yes, I’ve had an echo, ECG, treadmill etc - have to go for repeat screening every 2-3 years until at least age 40, but happy to leave with meds in the meantime . I’ve got a phone number too so can speak to cardiology if concerned . They are the most awful thing, drive me to despair on a bad day...

I hadn’t taken any pain meds no but certainly felt like I had - closest thing to morphine without the sort of pleasant fuzziness ! It’s a bit better today but due next tablet at 10, I suppose if it carries on I’m going to have to ring GP as can’t get sod all done .
