Christmas breakfast at work

Any suggestions for workplace breakfast/ brunch on Christmas Day?

I’m working on Christmas Day and have offered to sort breakfast for me and my 3 colleagues.
We have a small basic kitchen - toaster, microwave, kettle, fridge.
I can’t spend ages in the kitchen so something which is all prepped and ready to serve or heat and serve.
No dietary restrictions to consider, anything goes!
We start at 7am so I won’t have time to do anything at home in the morning. All prep will need to be done day before.

Thank you for any suggestions Smile

Fry/Grill some bacon the night before - store in tuppawear and then at work toast some bagels or muffins top with philli cream cheese - option of smoked salmon or bacon for on top?

GingerBun · 16/12/2020 11:18

Also - i would just get a pack of salmon trimmings too. They are reasonably priced and do the trick Grin

We used to do this at my old workplace on Christmas Eve, it’s lovely Smile. May I suggest bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon, you could quickly do scrambled egg in the microwave if desired. Nice pastries, jams, maybe some cold meats and nice bread, juice and coffee.

wizzbangfizz · 16/12/2020 11:22

Pre made frittata?

picklemewalnuts · 16/12/2020 11:23

Cook sausages ahead of time. Lovely bread rolls. Ketchup. Heat the sausages in the microwave. Fast and easy.

Butterymuffin · 16/12/2020 11:24

Nice pastries, butter and jam, and maybe bagels and smoked salmon then the only cooking to do is toasting bagels. I love bacon but I wouldn't want to get into cooking it in a work kitchen. Those multi packs of pain au chocolat or chocolate chip brioche rolls work well.

wendz86 · 16/12/2020 11:26

Panatone and selection of pastries

MeAndHimAndHer · 16/12/2020 11:27

These are great thank you.
I didn’t consider pre-cooking bacon to reheat.

I agree with Butterymuffin

We used to have breakfast together on every weekend early shift in a job I had a few years ago, and took it in turns to pick up fresh bread rolls, croissants and pastries on the way in to work, from a bakery very close by which was open from 4am!

Redglitter · 16/12/2020 11:47

Buy a microwave bacon cooker theyre about £3 on Amazon & do bacon rolls

MrsHugsxx · 16/12/2020 11:50

Croissants, cream cheese and smoked salmon or ham. Nice pastries.

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 16/12/2020 11:53

As above; parties, cream cheese and salmon. Take in some eggs and bacon and then you could do scrambled eggs or poached eggs in the microwave and also microbe the bacon (if you've got a wee bacon microwave tray thing).

Christmas tree shaped crumpets - ASDA and Morrisons do them

hollyhope · 16/12/2020 12:03

Saw reindeer-shaped crumpets in Asda this morning.

Frownette · 16/12/2020 12:05

@hollyhope

Saw reindeer-shaped crumpets in Asda this morning.
That's cute.
nosswith · 16/12/2020 12:09

How kind of you. I would go for bacon rolls if it were me.

IliveonCoffee · 16/12/2020 12:31

Slow cooker, pop in something like a shakshuka. It's like a tomato and egg dish, serve with crusty bread.

Can make the night before, either at home or work.

Potentially other slow cooker options...?

Kissthepastrychef · 16/12/2020 12:57

Greek yoghurts, frozen black cherries and honey
Really nice danish
Clementine juice

MotherPiglet · 16/12/2020 13:02

Christmas tree crumpets, Selection of fruits on a platter (grapes, strawberries, bananas, apples, oranges, blueberries), croissants, pastries, yoghurt. All of which can come pre-prepared with the exception of fruit but that can be a help yourself sort of thing.

MotherPiglet · 16/12/2020 13:05

If you have a slow cooker theres different ideas on the bbc goodfood app. Theres one that's basically a variety of beans to go on toast but with different flavourings etc and sounds delicious. It's called something like breakfast beans. You could have slow cooker on over night at home and then plug it back in at work

Hairmumscaremum · 16/12/2020 13:09

Bacon butties, sandwich the bacon about four slices at a time between couple of layers of kitchen paper and nuke for 2-3 mins, put into nice fresh crusty sandwiches yum.

Ilovesausages · 16/12/2020 13:10

Panettone is amazing. I would take in panettone and some nice juice/coffee/oh maybe some
Sliced cheese and nice bread. And quality Street!!

anniemouse · 16/12/2020 13:12

Greggs's sausage rolls!

waltzingparrot · 16/12/2020 13:14

Jamie Oliver breakfast muffins, made in advance and warmed in microwave, with a large cup of proper hot chocolate.
