Diabetes question, if anyone can help!

Hi, I’ve noticed over the last few months that I’ve been feeling extremely tired, unusually tired seeing as I sleep for a good 8 hours most night.
I wake up around 5/5.30 am most days and I’m pretty busy up till 11am (ish) when I just flake out. I’ll fall asleep and then wake up feeling very washed out but starving hungry,I literally open my eyes and head straight to the fridge for whatever I can grab. Once I’ve finished eating (never huge amounts) I’ll feel even more tired and fuzzy headed and then I feel SO thirsty and I’ll drink 2/3 pints of water.
I do suffer with a medical issue but none of these things would be connected to that issue. I am within the healthy weight range range for my height and an usual pretty active and walks miles daily.
I have 3 immediate family members with T2 diabetes.
Could it be diabetes or am I just tired and hungry sometimes??! 🤷🏼‍♀️
Thanks for any help!

Why don’t you ring your GP surgery for a chat and probably a blood test just to be sure ? They usually have diabetic clinics .

I think I’m putting off contacting my gp because I’ve been in and out of hospital for tests and operations so many times over the last 12 years that I’m petrified of having something else wrong with me. I know it sounds silly, because obviously they’d be able to make me feel better if I was diagnosed with something!
I think I need to put my big girl pants on and call the gp for a chat!

The symptoms could be something or nothing, but if you have a close family member with type 2 you should be getting tested every year to check you don’t also have it.

Really? That’s interesting @SherryPalmer. My Dad and brother are both T2 and my mum had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies and 2 of my 3 cousins are T2 so there’s obviously quite a strong history of it in my family. Thanks!

When was the last time you had a blood test, I have one every year, especially if there is diabetes in your family.
