Wedding Dress Shopping Etiquette

Yesterday I went to a bridal shop for the first time. But I'm for once confused as to what was supposed to happen. Do you make a decision on the spot? Do you think about it? Do you shop around? They also wanted to see me again ASAP (don't quite understand the rush). Last but not least was I supposed to be wearing spanx?

@Fressia123

The consultants won’t tell you what style suits you because they want to sell you a dress so what ‘suits you’ doesn’t really matter if that’s not what you love.

I think a lot of women go dress shopping thinking they’ll be given answers but imagine you went in and they were like ‘you need a low cut fishtail’ and you were like ‘I pictured something more traditional’. They’re less likely to win your business.

When I was dress shopping I was determined to try on loads, feel no pressure...etc.
My mum and I went along to a huge bridal outlet and I was like ‘let’s try on loads get some ideas then we’ll go to a ‘traditional’ dress shop and order one’

The first dress I tried on at the outlet was a brand new in sample piece, never tried on before and one of a kind. Gorgeous and traditional. I knew as soon as I put it on, fitted like a glove. I didn’t even need alterations. I came out in it and a load of women who were with another bridal party gasped. Told my mum I looked like Kate Middleton !

Bought it on the day and still adore it. Never expected it to go like that!

They didn't have any in the original style I was looking for (romper) . Which was fine as I know it's a not very traditional look.

Which is why I'm going to the other shop in the hope that maybe they'll have something more "unconventional". I hate lace/embroidery and definitely dislike glittery stuff . It just looks so tacky.

Try he consultants at my Friday shop totally did tell me what would suit my height and shape. I tried on what I thought I wanted and it didn’t suit me at all. I am an hour glass shaken and the then started A line and ball gown styles which showed off my waist, flattered my bust and hid my big bum. In the end I bought the sample dress. They could have pushed he into an unsuitable or more expensive option.

Well the shop I was dealing with told me that the designer/factory wouldn't br ae.tp hey the drrsd made until late March and that their seamstress wouldn't work with such a short turnaround (1 month). So they told.me to find my own. Needless to say I've spoken to the other local, explained my situation and said she'll find something that will.work out for me.
