endometriosis - has changing your diet help?

Just that really - am at my wits end with the pain and crippling fatigue. After spending another weekend in bed doubled over, I've been researching and prepping for an anti-inflammatory diet, cutting out sugar/caffeine/booze all the fun stuff. But i'm so desperate now. Anyone else ever changed their diet to help their endo/other chronic condition and has it helped? TIA

I'm now on bowel medication and try to avoid bread as much as I can and it helps. They've asked me to come and get tested for coeliacs as well.

I have suspected endo and confirmed polycystic ovaries. Cutting out sugar and gluten has helped massively. I still have coffee though. Try cooking with turmeric, ginger etc. Good luck.

I bought The Endometriosis Diet book when I suffered with severe endo.

It was grim, but really made a difference to my symptoms.

I had a couple of banned foods, such as homemade chips and the odd glass of organic wine.

Following. I have adenomyosis not endo but guessing they’re similar enough for the same diet advice to apply.

A friend swears by not eating meat.

Very interesting thread. I have been poorly with heavy periods, fibroids and was also diagnosed with endo. Last year, I was told I have a cervical ectropion. Anyway, I will be having surgery to sort this mess out but something my lovely child said to me struck home. He said if I stopped eating so much Parmesan and milk, maybe I’d get better. He has a point - I get though 4l of full fat milk a week and about 240g of Parmesan (weird craving). After he said that, I went off to do some research and found out that my conditions are linked to high oestrogen, which dairy can cause. Of course, dairy is inflammatory. I think I will try to find a dairy substitute. Other than that, no suger, alcohol, or junk in my diet.

I have endo, I do think it’s better when I eat healthier - for me yeast is a big factor as it really bloats me and I think just makes everything worse.

On a side note, I find lavender oil really helps with the pain - a couple of drops of oil in a carrier oil, massaged into the abdomen. Sometimes pain medication doesn’t even touch the sides, but the lavender works. There are some studies when support it, but quite frankly I don’t even care if it’s only psychosomatic if it helps!
