Sweaty nights!!!! What are my options?

I decided to put away my lovely paper thin summer duvet as I was waking up cold.
So I switched to the winter duvet and haven't had a good night sleep since
I'm waking up dripping wet, unless I put it below my waist and just have the top sheet on me, even then I end up dragging it up in the night and waking up the same

I sleep with the windows slightly open as I like the fresh air and there's no heating on

What does everyone else do?
Would a summer duvet & extra blanket be better?

Haven't got much cash to spare so cheaper options preferred.

The summer duvet/extra blanket option sounds better. I'm in the same boat, but I did get to buy a weighted blanket, when I had a bit of spare cash earlier this year.

Other options I've used in previous years was a proper pair of flannel PJs, under summer duvet, rather than the t shirt is normally wear.

Before the weighted blanket, I never had a duvet warmer than 9 tog, and even then sometimes woke up to find I'd pushed my feet out from underneath.

I use a paper thin Summer duvet all year round and have the windows open. If I get a bit chilly then I have a throw I pull over, and I can then throw it off when I get hot again.

I don’t have a duvet as find them too hot.
I use a cotton sheet with a coverlet over the top that’s a bit quilted but nowhere near as thick as a duvet.
You could always resort to a hot water bottle filled with cold water & a few ice cubes dropped in.

What is your duvet made of?

Maybe consider a wool duvet.

MozzchopsThirty · 14/12/2020 20:16

I don't know I'm hot though, I just wake up dripping (cleavage, legs & between legs)

I think I'll have to go back to summer duvet & buy something for over it
Could anyone recommend via link to what I could buy?
Thank you

I love a heavy duvet and open my window, regardless of weather/temp. I drip in sweat a few days before my period. Are you sure it isn’t hormonal?

I have a remote control fan on the dressing table and have it angled and at the speed where there's just a gentle breeze on my upper body. On the bed there is a cotton sheet topped by a 3.5 tog duvet, topped by a cheapish throw from Next (Primark do them as well). I have the window open and no heating. Throw and duvet are thrown off and pulled back during the night as needed - the fan helps a lot.

I have 2 summer weight duvets in one duvet cover this time of year. I put one away when it gets warmer.

BarbaraofSeville · 15/12/2020 07:01

We use a 4.5 tog duvet all year round as it's more than enough for both of us. In high summer we just use the empty duvet cover.

In the depths of winter I might wear a t shirt and socks in bed but otherwise we both sleep naked, otherwise are too hot.

Following. I suffer from night sweats that are mainly linked to sleep apnea and bad dreams (which I have most nights 😴). DH gets woken up most nights by me flipping the duvet.

Was looking into sweat wicking pyjamas if anyone has any experiences?

Is this a new thing? If it is a change, it might be an idea to see go about it to check there isn’t a medical reason for the change. Different people seem to have different temps though - DH produces lots more heat than me.
