@PinkDaydreams yeah I reckon a nearly 3 year old would be fine, as long as he doesn’t try eating it! I’ve put it all back in the bowl and clingfilmed it for future use.he spent a good 20 mins scooping it from one thing to another.

Asda baileys is an acquired taste Grin it has a certain alcoholic tang to it, but for £7 I don’t care!

I love that you got out to a cafe, small things, little bits of normal are like treasures right now.

DD is currently grunting out a poo, duty calls.

Camomila · 23/12/2020 17:32

Outside football time lasted about 20 minutes before being rained off - we had a few tears on the way home. In non coronavirus times we might have stayed out but I'm not risking sniffles - cough - having to get tested again!
Saw DM quickly (in our bubble) as she wanted DS1 to sign cards for the neighbours so that cheered him up.

I'm also really excited for Christmas; although DS1 is getting lego (as opposed to duplo/mega blocks) so we'll have to keep it away from DS2.

We're Tier 4 from Boxing Day...just crossing my fingers primary schools stay open!

PinkDaydreams · 23/12/2020 17:46

I'll get some snow from Asda tomorrow, that's if they still have some left!

You're now making me want to go for a cuppa and a cake, I might do that with toddler tomorrow as he enjoys watching the cars go past the windows :)

@PinkDaydreams it was in the seasonal aisle, near the baubles, looks like a small white test tube.

I’m looking forward to Christmas too @Camomila, smaller event than the usual 20 round the table, will be our family, my sister and my mum and step dad. DP has promised to drive so I can have a drink 😂

footprintsintheslow · 23/12/2020 18:59

@PinkDaydreams whats happening?

Torrential rain all day here. Decorated Xmas cake and made our pie for Christmas Day.

Tuff spot was the post box and Christmas cards and stickers and most importantly the sellotape dispenser. Toddler loves it more than any toy ever and everything gets sellotaped. All her playmobile is sellotaped up and she sellotaped round her feet the other day as they were ice skates.

We've been reading Christmas stories at bedtime to boost our Christmas spirit (my parents were meant to be coming tonight and giving me a break from parenting, but I've just parcelled off their presents and sent them off since we'll probably be in lockdown and won't see them till at least February Sad).

Our Christmas train track is now very mangy. Fake snow is a sticky residue and cotton balls quite manky from being stuffed in various things Grin. So I think we might have a new tuff tray for Christmas with new fake snow (still have one pack left) and some Christmas figures we have (Santa, reindeer, winter animals etc). Not sure how to make it "interactive" enough so it grabs DS's attention....

PinkDaydreams · 24/12/2020 08:14

@MonkeyPuddle thank you for telling me where it is, I'd have been looking near the Christmas paper and bags!

@footprintsintheslow everything just felt like it took forever to do yesterday, the last bits food shop ended up panning out over three shops, I needed a plant for a gift but b&q had rubbish selection and no garden centres near by. Sorted that in the end but I thought that was going to be the easy job and it wasn't. Fridge Tetris took longer than expected, then just generally having to tidy up after everyone repeatedly. Toddler kept pulling at the Christmas lights so they've now had to come down. And I had a headache too with hardly any sleep from the night before as I was worrying I wouldn't be able to buy a turkey as they'd be sold out! I know it's only one day but I hate the pressure and high expectations.

Anyway, today is another day, supposedly dry weather so a trip to the museum and the park and then Asda to buy fake snow and milk as I forgot the milk yesterday.

PinkDaydreams · 24/12/2020 08:17

Oh and having to repeatedly tell DH not to let toddler play with the playdoh on the new rug drove me mad!! "He's ok he's having fun", "yes but there's playdoh stuck to the rug and he knows with me he plays with it on the table, he's testing you by taking it on the rug and you're letting him". I'm such a moaner!!

BEE08 · 24/12/2020 08:26

I'm new, I've just found the thread, my toddler is testing the boundaries this morning so this is great.
I will introduce myself, I have a DS who is 19 months and a DSD who is 9.
I usually work three days a week, so he is used to being in different places and at nursery one day a week, so is bored of being at home.

MonkeyPuddle · 24/12/2020 09:08

Oh god the playdough on the rug made me do a sharp inhalation @PinkDaydreams it’s a table activity only! We rent our house and that land lord put new carpets down at the start of the year, I am VERY protective over them, I Hawkeye DS when he’s got the stuff out!

We’ve got DSD11, coming round today for our Christmas together, so presents, party games and a buffet (hello freezer section), she’s got younger siblings and wakes up with them on Christmas morning. She’s really into Harry Potter and we’ve got her one of the Lego sets, she’ll love it! Can’t wait to see her open things.

I managed to dream feed DD last night, she took a quick feed at 10:30 and then slept through til 2am! Actual heaven! We’ve spent most nights with her beady eyed and crying from 10pm til midnight! I’m crossing my fingers it wasn’t a one off. DS was sleeping through by 8w so I was spoiled by having a brilliant sleeper Grin

footprintsintheslow · 24/12/2020 09:53

@PinkDaydreams sounds like a nightmare and I'm Surprised you didn't hit the bottle by 4pm.
Let it all go now and say 'fuck it' to anything left. Reading your post reminded me of every Christmas ever but because I'm isolating and pregnant, stuff that hasn't got done just hasn't got done and I don't care this year for the first year ever.

We usually make a lovely cranberry sauce for neighbours and friends but there were no cranberries in tesco. So it's too bad. Previously I'd have been hunting round the shops. No way this year.

I went to b and m to get the Christmas tree so was mainly outside and that's when my app pinged that I'd been in close contact with a positive case. It happened do easily and I'd thought I hadn't been near anyone within 2 metres for 15 minutes. So I think the app is more sensitive than it says it is. But even so I'm never leaving the house again.

Hello @BEE08!! Come on in and have a festive baileys with us all!

BEE08 · 24/12/2020 14:13

@footprintsintheslow thank you, I have found my kind of people, where u can chat about my DS and what he gets up too. Today he has decided he loves the beads on the tree too much!

@PinkDaydreams thanks I will, gin its my drink to go!!

BEE08 · 24/12/2020 14:14

Meant to say where I can char about my DS.

MessAllOver · 24/12/2020 14:18

@BEE08. All toddler owners welcome here.

Just packed DS off for a nap after an epic meltdown...I think the excitement of stacks of presents under the tree (and the frustration of not being allowed to open them!) is getting to him slightly.

Had a nice morning up till then though...We danced to Christmas songs and made a new tuff tray with clean fake snow and animals to bury which is proving a hit.

modge · 24/12/2020 14:19

Playdoh on the rug, argh! That's a definite hard no!

Congratulations on the dream feed/extra sleep @MonkeyPuddle! I remember when mine was a newborn telling a friend very genuinely that I felt great as I'd had a 3 hour block of sleep, she reacted like I was a crazy person (which in fairness...)

We've taken advantage of the good weather to be out at the park this morning and I dashed through the supermarket for some final bits and pieces. DC is currently having a short nap although this risks making bedtime very late. We've reached the point where no nap equals a 7.15pm bedtime and a nap equals an 8.30-8.45pm bedtime but I am taking the risk today as I still have some wrapping to do.

Got some painting lined up for this afternoon, aiming to get DC to decorate some biscuit tins for his grandparents. It will either be an amazing success or total disaster, there is no middle ground here!

Hope everyone is having a peaceful Christmas Eve.

BEE08 · 24/12/2020 14:26

@modge, we have done some painting today.
I took the opportunity to do some more grown up style painting with DSD whilst Ds had a nap then did some painting with DS .

WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere · 25/12/2020 04:18

Merry Christmas everyone!

Welcome along @BEE08 Smile

Anyone else affected by flooding this week? Luckily our house wasn’t affected (the garage is pretty wet), but it’s been pretty bad round us. DS1 was at my mums (in our bubble) on Wednesday, all fine when I dropped him off in the morning but I was genuinely worried by late afternoon that she might not be able to get him home! Took her an hour, normally 20 mins. DH drives a pick up, still had a dicey journey home as at one point the water was washing over the bonnet.

I wasn’t convinced that DS1 had really got the hang of Christmas (just turned 3, but speech delayed so can be hard to tell what he understands sometimes), until he went utterly loopy yesterday! Was lovely starting traditions though - mince pie and glass of milk left out for Santa Xmas Smile (I angled for Santa to get a G&T but he wasn’t having it).

ReallySpicyCurry · 25/12/2020 06:49

Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm currently trying to keep DD in my room with the help of a brioche, so DH can turn on the lights and light the fire before the big reveal

MessAllOver · 25/12/2020 08:09

Merry Christmas!

Had a late night wrapping presents, watching Christmas films and having too many drinks so DH is refusing to let us get up and open presents. He doesn't want to miss DS seeing his stocking and presents in the living-room but doesn't think he'll be able to get his arse out of bed till 9 Hmm.

With the help of some chocolate croissants, a banana and the ipad, DS is being good about staying in our bed. I've given him one present (a bath toy), so going to have a nice warm bath till 9 and try it out.

BEE08 · 25/12/2020 08:32

Merry Christmas everyone.
DS didn't get up to 7:01am, so I got some sleep!! We have opened are stockings and main presents, just having breakfast of crossiants and coffee for me.

PinkDaydreams · 25/12/2020 21:09

I was wide awake from about 5am but son didn't wake up till gone 8!!
I hope everyone has had a magical day! :)

jobbyjg · 26/12/2020 12:06

Hi everyone , my ds is 3 so maybe not classed as a toddler but I'd love to join this thread if that's ok?
I was think about getting ds a ruff tray, do you need the stand for it or just use the tray? I was going to use it indoors and outside in better weather

jobbyjg · 26/12/2020 12:08

Tuff tray even
