Genius idea about getting pants a size bigger.
I've looked at Oh Crap, it looked good in points but seemed quite regimented, and I'm far too lazy. With DD1 I practically just handed her a pair of pants and pointed at the toilet. Though I do think DD2 will be more, er, challenging. She'll need trained before September anyway, and when we're finally released, I don't want to spend weeks of better weather inside training her then. I'll give it a go and see how we get on. The Twinkl toilet training pack is calling to me...

Sorry you've had a rough day, MummaBear. Days like that, when nothing goes right, are rubbish. Give it up as a bad lot for now, and hopefully tomorrow will be different

WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere · 11/01/2021 17:39

@ReallySpicyCurry I think it was your post on FB I saw earlier, where someone accidentally recommended “oh shit” potty training. Which given my early experiences seems altogether more accurate 🤣

ReallySpicyCurry · 11/01/2021 18:04

Bahaha yes that was me! Grin

I think it may be Oh Shit, given the amount of blueberries and sweetcorn she's been eating recently! Grin

I just stripped DS from the waist down and gave him a mini marshmallow every 30 minutes if he would sit on the potty, big claps if he did anything. He clicked fast as he’s very food motivated Grin told him the marshmallows were all gone after a couple of days and then a few days after that told him the potty was too small so he had to use the Big Boy Toilet, not the Little Baby Potty. But I think most of it was luck really.

ReallySpicyCurry · 11/01/2021 20:07

@footprintsintheslow hope induction day went well abd you're currently in the throes!

Souperspooker · 11/01/2021 20:07

That sounds amazing. I remember trying something similar with DD but got too stressed by it all and have up. Went for slowly slowly, it took until she was 5 1)2 to be dry at night regularly. But actually it suited her as she such a sensitive soul and doesn't take well to pressure. Plus I think as she's hypermobility she doesn't have amazing level of sensation about needing to go.
DS is just 2 and v interested in the loo, Nd gas done the odd wee there already.
They're all so different!

No way I'm starting anything like that though til he's much bigger and I'm not stretched to the max with both of them home all the time and Mr grumpy head not helping much either.

Wine time I think.

So much for trying to reduce it I really need s drink these days!

ReallySpicyCurry · 11/01/2021 20:23

Strangely enough DH brought some mini marshmallows home from the shop an hour ago Grin it's a sign.

I've got up Amazon and have shown DD2 a selection of undercrackers, predictably she's chosen some Peppa ones. She wandered upstairs and had a long discussion with DD1 about how the Amazon man is bringing her Peppa pants Grin

@souperspooker I totally get it- DD1 was about 8 before she was dry at night. I was by and large OK with it, because she did train during the day so easily, so I just whacked the big child pull ups on her and waited it out until the night time pee hormones kicked in, but it was frustrating for her, especially when there was talk of sleepovers at school. I strongly suspect DD1 is hypermobile too, actually - she has all the "tells" and has another genetic condition which goes hand in hand with hypermobility.

It'll be strange if training works for DD2 now - that means we've just got weaning to go (down to one bf a day, in the morning) and then we've hit all the baby/young toddler to preschooler milestones. They really do grow up terribly quickly. DD2 will be three in the summer. I remember big DD turning three like it was yesterday - almost overnight she started playing independently, it felt like I started to emerge from the baby and toddler bubble and get bigger chunks of time back/we were able to do more "older child" type things.

Hi can I join I'm laughing away in the dark at some of your comments here whilst I can't sleep! DS 2.5 driving me crazy tho luckily at nursery 2 days, do I get a pass in (I promise not to bring a picnic only LOTS of snacks for him that I might steal???) you lot are farrrr more creative than me so I need your help please!

WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere · 12/01/2021 00:28

@Souperspooker I was looking for just a stand for the tuff tray, haven’t come across one yet. Considered buying a new tray and stand but feel that may place my marriage on too precarious a footing!

@Minster2012 welcome! We shall judge you on your snacks Grin (I’ve started the low carb bootcamp, so I’ll be the one at the back with the Tupperware full of smelly boiled eggs...)

sophs29 · 12/01/2021 09:28

@WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere I saw tuff tray stands on eBay when I was looking at getting DS1 one the other day!

I'm hoping to do some painting and other crafty things today with DS1 if my 2 month old allows it!
Feel so sorry for DS1 when I get crafty bits all ready and then the baby needs a bottle or bum change and he's just sat there like 'how dare you mum, this is my time' haha!

Ds got a microscooter for Christmas which has been fab - it's replaced the buggy as we got got strap with it you can pull him along when he's tired.

Ds was at pil yesterday, today started on and off from 3.15 give or take a out 2 hours sleep since so we are being lazy right now and ds can't work out if he's happy sad or angry... I need to drop off a prescription so might try to take a longer route home to encourage a car nap, feel a bit naughty doing so though .

We are bubbled with a friend as she has an under one (and both toddlers off nursery everyone wfh) so we're going to pop round later for the kids to play. Is it ridiculous that I'm so excited at the prospect of a cup of tea indoors?

Tuff tray arriving tomorrow!

MummaBear4321 · 12/01/2021 10:48

One of our activities this morning was alphabet spaghetti sea. Just cooked spaghetti with oil and blue food dye with plastic letters and two bowls. My DD is still a bit young and can only identify 4 or 5 alphabet sounds but she loved using tongs to move the spaghetti around and liked tipping the spaghetti from one bowl to another. It kept her occupied for a good 20 mins, and I might crack it out again later.

MonkeyPuddle · 12/01/2021 12:22

Right ladies covid rules, tell me if I’m right or wrong cos I’m getting confused.

Me and another local woman both have a child under one, around 10-12 weeks old, we live within walking distance of each other, around 1.5 miles away, with some woods about halfway between us both, can we meet for a socially distanced walk?
Like she’s another human being I can talk to, rather than just being home with a refluxing baby I could be outside with a refluxing baby and another adult?

MummaBear4321 · 12/01/2021 12:50

Yes @MonkeyPuddle you can meet her for a walk as its local and pre school kids dont count in the 'you can meet one other person for exercise' rule. I know it might sound OTT but I would wear a mask. A GP on BBC this morning was recommending everyone wear them outdoors. Also, my sis is an ICU nurse, and she has me terrified tbh. Better to be OTT at the minute in my opinion.

PinkDaydreams · 12/01/2021 13:51

Just a quick one, playfoam is rubbish, it's going back! Dried up before it's even been played with, the polystyrene balls aren't sticking together. Never mind, at least we've tried it and can report back that it's crap! 😹

MessAllOver · 12/01/2021 14:08

@PinkDaydreams. I'm sorry it didn't work, but thanks for taking one for the team! I shall remove it from my Amazon basket.

@MonkeyPuddle. I think that's fine. Especially since the babies will be in buggies and can't breathe on each other.

Just don't give in to the urge for a sneaky Starbucks (and especially not a chocolate brownie!)...We don't want to be having a whip-round to pay your fine if they arrest you and baby Grin.

Minster2012 · 12/01/2021 15:00

Hello sorry for the late response, today felt quite smug as screen time (yet) and managed 2 dog walks by myself with only one tantrum (him not me)

Today's activity has been a trip to the supermarket with lunch included! And now he's snoozing the car. That counts right??

@WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere I had dippy eggs for lunch but dipped raw carrots in my eggs does that count as low carb? 😊😂

I need a tuff tray stand off to search ebay and get more creative

WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere · 12/01/2021 15:26

Excellent taste in onesies @Minster2012 Grin

Send help. DD woke up far too early this morning and is exhausted and grumpy. Losing her shit at absolutely everything. Have offered crafts, activities, books, snacks. All rejected in favour of sobbing hysterically for no reason. Am exhausted

ReallySpicyCurry · 12/01/2021 15:46

I spot a Duns!

ReallySpicyCurry · 12/01/2021 15:48

This is going to sound stupid, but what do you do with the scooter on pavements? Ours are quite old and narrow in places. In my head DD is going to tip sideways in front of oncoming traffic

Jumping back onto this thread after missing a few and name changing along the way to ask if you DD is actually my DS in disguise? He woke up soooooo early and has been utterly miserable all day! Nothing has cheered him up, even the swings couldn't stop the tears and he bloody loves the swings!
Minster2012 · 12/01/2021 15:58

🥳🙌🏻SNAP!!! @ReallySpicyCurry and if in doubt drive 😂🤣though bit late I guess. I did that Xmas day
@WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere

MummaBear4321 · 12/01/2021 17:01

@ReallySpicyCurry I feel your pain. Both my DDs have had minimal sleep today. DD1 woke up after 1 hr of a nap, its usually 2, and DD2 only napped for 45 mins (all of which was on me, not at the same time as DD1. She is 8 weeks old). Its been a day of survival.

I have just realised I havent drank, peed, or brushed my teeth all day ....

ReallySpicyCurry · 12/01/2021 17:03

Oh my God, she's just conked out on the sofa.

I'm going to regret this later, but I'm letting her have 15 minutes. I've found that being overtired is a bigger indicator of a bad night to come than a danger nap. So I'm risking it for the sake of a cup of tea and getting the washing up done.

Sorry to hear some of you have been having similar struggles. Is it a full moon?
