Christmas Voucher for nursery workers?

I’m in London and wanted to get the workers at DD’s nursery a gift voucher to thank them for all they’ve doen this year. Does M&S seem an appropriate choice? A colleague said she thought that was “too fancy” but I reckon it’s a more reliable choice than other retailers this year, can buy food, something for own DCs or self, etc. I’ve seen several of them walking around the area so I believe live nearby and there is a Marks local to us.

How old are they? Early twenties no, forties more appropriate.

Also how many are you buying? Will it be a decent value? Because if not then they will have to spend quite a bit to redeem the voucher as m and s isn’t cheap. I’d probably not do vouchers to be honest. Or a token £5 for Costa or something.

I agree with the above poster. Depends how old they are.

I am an ex nursery worker. The best gift I ever got was from a lady who bought on a huge food basket a few days for our classroom before we closed for Xmas.

Inside was hot chocolate with chocolate stirrers. Cake , biscuits. It was lovely. We ate the entire basket in two days 😂. That’s the one I remember. Not the boxes of smellies etc. She wrote a wonderful card for each of us.

Thank you - they are 30s I reckon, with DC of their own. I will also bring a biscuit hamper for them to share but would likely do something to acknowledge each worker. Any other suggestions?

Some books or games for the nursery? Load of play doh or audio stories.

I would maybe ask the nursery manager for an idea for something personal. She would know them better.

How much are you thinking? I worked in a nursery for years and had a lovely lovely parent who gave me an M&S voucher with a tenner on and a note to treat myself and DH to a dine in for 2 thing.

It was lovely

I think it's a lovely present. Even for a younger member of staff.

XherdanShaqiri · 12/12/2020 22:10

It's a lovely present.

The One4All vouchers are also great, they're really flexible (you can use them in M&S).

Pipandmum · 12/12/2020 22:20

Age has no bearing. I don't know anyone who would think they were too young for m&s food! And m&s is not fancy, and if it was surely that's the point? Give them something they might not get for themselves?

Mummyinthesoutheast · 12/12/2020 22:53

Thank you- yes I’d reckoned it would be alright for something to eat, treat for yourself (they’ve got some lovely pyjamas or hand creams on) or for your DC. Or just a meal top up. My colleague said it was “too fambcy” and the money would be better spent at Aldi or Lidl Hmm

I think it's fine OP, as can use on food you don't have to buy an expensive item or they can put towards something or get socks, we always need socks.

Love2Shop vouchers can be used in loads of shops. I always buy those.

Blankiefan · 13/12/2020 09:10

I used to buy a bunch of £5 Costa vouchers and let them split them out as they liked. Helpful if a group of them are sharing.

Twickerhun · 13/12/2020 09:12

We are doing this for either m and a or John Lewis / Waitrose- it’s nice to have vouchers for somewhere nice rather than somewhere cheap.
