Advice needed for caring for a baby with a long term arm injury

Hi, I have a long term injury to my elbow and was wondering if anyone can offer any hints and tips on caring for a baby using one arm? I'm wanting to try for a baby but worried about how I would pick it up, feed it etc. I can't use it for lifting/carrying anything remotely heavy or for supporting myself or putting weight on it. I could however hold a baby bottle for instance. Does anyone know of any equipment and accessories that might help me? I also have a coccyx problem and can't rest anything heavy on my lap. Can anyone offer any advice? I was thinking of looking for an occupational therapist who specialises in maternity patients with physical problems if anybody knows of anyone? Thank you!

My best friends MIL only has use of one arm and had always managed to look after her grandchildren.

Also i have a school mum friend who walks with a frame etc and she scoots down the stairs on her bum with them in her lap as she cant carry them down the stairs.

Only two small examples but that show people do adapt and manage. I think the research you are doing and suggestions you make are excellent.

You'd need to test a lot of equipment too. A lot of buggies and car seats are difficult to release without using both hands. And the mechanism for getting a pram up and down and in and out of the car. Manageable but you'd need to try before you buy x

Thank you so much for your lovely message, it's very reassuring to hear of how other Mums manage and adapt. Thank you also for your tips on trying before buying buggies and car seats, a great tip! I have also seen a product that I think would help me out called Snugglebundl - it's basically a mini hammock with handles and a built in head support that you can use for transferring the baby from the cot to car seat etc and you can leave the baby in it. Apparently it's also good to use for taking a baby out of a car seat without disturbing its sleep. Thank you for your kind reply x
