Do you eat anything after your main meal?

I’ve got into such a bad habit of snacking on biscuits after our dinner on an evening and really need to stop. My portion sizes are fine (I think) and I try to eat fairly healthily but it’s like my brain just can’t comprehend that I’m full. Can anyone else just not NOT have a dessert?!

@livefornaps

After my slice of steamed cabbage at 5.30pm I am just absolutely stuffed for the duration of the 23 hour fast that follows
Greedy, we have a pea each and can barely move afterwards.

No I tend to find my massive salad fills me right up.

I dont eat after my main meal never have done.

FizzyPink · 10/12/2020 18:57

I don’t but that’s because I don’t buy snacks I like so I’m not tempted! If I’m hungry/bored I’ll have a cup of peppermint tea.
DP on the other hand has a terrible sweet tooth and is snacking from when he eats his dinner until he goes to bed. However, he works very long days where he burns around 1500 active calories and is skinny as a rake so I let him get on with it.

I am atm. For a while i managed not to snack at all between meals and just had a coffee in the evening and felt a lot better for it. I am going to get back to it after Christmas.

I dont, occasionally I'll have a small pudding after dinner but I suffer with acid reflux so like to be done all my eating by 530 to help that.

When I was younger I'd have a cup of tea and whole packet of jaffa cakes while watching emmerdale

My dh comes from a home where they always have pudding. I only make pudding once or twice a week so he'll usually have ice cream or a shop bought trifle or something similar at 7pm

Not usually, but sometimes if it's been a very shit day DH and I may crack open some chocolate or crisps. Normally I have a diet ginger beer of lilt if I fancy something sweet. Usually eat Dinner around 5.30 pm with the kids.

notalwaysalondoner · 10/12/2020 19:10

No. I’m so grateful my parents never gave us puddings on a regular basis growing up as I’ve seen a real trend from housemates, friends etc that those who were brought up having something sweet after tea really miss it if they try to stop. Can you try switching to a hot drink, I find that hits the spot often if I do want something - hot squash for that sweet hit, camomile, decaf tea?

Temporary1234 · 10/12/2020 19:11

Popcorn and frozen banana milkshake. Work for me.

AudTheDeepAndCrispAndEven · 10/12/2020 19:16

How funny @notalwaysalondoner I was brought up on a daily pudding but don't indulge as an adult.

chunkyrun · 10/12/2020 19:16

Yes which is why I'm chunky and have to run

Dinner is at around 5:30. Kids are all asleep by 9 and DH and I don't go to bed until 11/12 so we usually have a small snack before bed. Sometimes just a couple of rich teas with a cuppa or a bowl of fruit between us but tonight we're planning on making chocolate brownie mug cakes when DC are in bed!

Barmyfarmy · 10/12/2020 19:19

I should add DC don't have a dessert every night but we make crumbles, sweet pies and traditional puddings quite often so sometimes one or two will have a small slice. They're not that interested though as we usually serve bread, salad and fruit with dinner for them.
