Anyone else have a "natural" weight?

lifebytheby · 10/12/2020 11:18

Anyone else have a weight where they can eat whatever they want and stay that weight?

If I diet I can lose weight but if I eat whatever I want - takeaway, chocolate every day, biscuits, icecream etc (within reason I guess?), I don't go above 64kg/10st??

For the record I'm not happy at 10st and like to be lighter, around half a stone lighter, in order to do that I have to diet and really watch what I eat. But it seems to be my body's natural weight. Is this a thing? Anyone else?!

I was 64kg when I was eating whatever crap I wanted. However I'm 5"2 so that wasn't healthy at all. I have a petite frame so could still fit in size 10 and was kidding myself it was ok really.

Lost it all now after hard work, feel much healthier at 48kg. Still eat crap, but in moderation now Grin

isawthat · 10/12/2020 12:48

Just under 9 stone for me, but I am small

Newgirls · 10/12/2020 12:50

5-7 here and bang on 10 stone. I went down about a half two years ago and a few people said it was harsh on my face. Still curvy in other places though. I think it’s a sensible weight for that height and you need a bit of padding for hormone production etc

I've never dieted in my life and have never been over 105 lbs (Except pregnancies). 98-102 is my normal range and I eat so much food for a tiny 5'1 person and tons of junk which I'm not proud of lol. My mom says it will catch up with me one day but so far so good! I'm 37.

Koffeekake · 10/12/2020 14:03

I'm 5ft6 and 60kg seems to be the most weight I can gain, despite a lot of effort to gain more

easterndreaming · 10/12/2020 14:32

Me, I eat exactly what I want, when I want and always stay between 50/54 kilos and have never once deprived myself of something I wanted to eat. I also never weigh myself except if needed for medical reasons, mainly because I seem just fine in the mirror. I do know I put on 15 kg in both my pregnancies and went back down to exactly the same weight as before without doing anything in particular. Having said all of that I live in a country where there is almost no convenience food, and so I have to cook practically everything from scratch. Possibly if I lived in the Uk I might eat more stuff, simply because it's more available, but I don't know.

emeraldcity2000 · 10/12/2020 14:43

This is a very depressing thread for me! I've just lost 14kg got back to 63kg (5'6) after my second child... only to discover everyone else can't get heavier than that 😂😂😂.
Still I had to lose 20kg the first time so it was a slight improvement!

easterndreaming · 10/12/2020 14:51

I think it just shows that every person has an ideal weight, and that trying to alter that, whether by losing or gaining, to fit on with the fashion of the time requires a lot of effort. Weight is something that can be altered but I don't think it easy. Other things cannot, or at least not something that a majority of people would consider. Long legs are desirable but you can't just lengthen limbs so have to except them.

Lionnose · 10/12/2020 15:10

62kg for me. I eat far too much crap and stay there. I eat like a saint and exercise regularly and get down to 59kg but how ever hard I seem to try I can’t get below so I go back to my crap eating and feel happier (in some ways. I.e. less stressed and I don’t have to feel deprived) but I would love to learn to eat sensibly.

I’m reading a book called ‘Why we eat too much’ and it appears to say our bodies have a mechanism to try to keep us at what it believes our ‘natural’ weight should be. There are lots of studies but I can’t say I understand it all and I still have a lot to read. But it’s an interesting read so far.

BigFluffyBearr · 10/12/2020 15:15

61kg on 5 foot 3 always told I'm so slim but I obviously weigh alot for my height

Cordillera · 10/12/2020 15:48

Not me. If I don't watch what I eat, I put weight on, and on and on.
I'm mid40s now and been the same my whole life.

lastdayofjuly · 10/12/2020 16:41

I tend to hover in the low- to mid-60kgs at 5 foot 5. I did once get down to almost 50kg but this involved excessive exercise and food restriction to the point I was diagnosed with an ED (not to be recommended).

I have been learning a lot about set weight theory i.e. that one's body has a range of weight in which it is happy and will maintain itself easily with normal eating and levels of movement/exercise. One might fluctuate up and down, say within a 5-10kg range within that from time to time, but this is where your body feels best.

hippospot · 10/12/2020 16:45

My natural weight is about 65kg but I definitely prefer myself at 62kg. However, getting to and staying at 62kg is such a battle I reckon it's not worth the effort. I'm 5'8" so 65kg is perfectly healthy, it's just vanity to want to be thinner. I'm making peace with 65kg :)

I'm 46 and have bigger fish to fry than losing those 3kg. I'm healthy and that's what matters.

slavetothenhs · 10/12/2020 18:08

61 and a half kilos for me, literally doesn't matter what I eat/how lazy/porky I feel, when I weigh myself it's always the same. I'm 5'6 and a size 8

fussychica · 10/12/2020 18:09

Unfortunately it gets harder as you get older. In my 20s my "fighting"weight was about 53kgs though I could be as low as 50kgs. Had a baby in my mid 30s when my normal weight was around 58kgs, no trouble dropping the baby weight but after the menopause went up to around 60-62kgs. Now in my mid 60s and it's a fight to stay under 65kg. Eat healthily, exercise and usually maintain 63-64 kgs but any relaxation and I'm close to 65kgs. I'm 5'4" size 10/12/14 depending on whose clothes I buyGrin

user1493413286 · 10/12/2020 18:12

I’m like this at 8 stone; I’ve dipped below but it would mean no treats to maintain it. I would say though that I still eat healthily but I can eat treats so I do eat what I want but I like to eat healthily

WingBingo · 10/12/2020 18:21

10 stone for me too OP! I’m 5’10” so if I drop under that weight I can look a little gaunt.

Always a size 12 though. I carry my weight on my hips.

Octopus37 · 10/12/2020 19:42

Yes, unfortunately it has increased in my 40s though. Throughout my late teens, 20s and 30s I was nearly always (occasionally in high 7s) somewhere in the 8s, even after 2 pregnancies. However, being somewhere in the 9s became the new normal after turning 40. I was on and off ADs between 39 and 44 which didn't help. This time last year I got up to nearly 10st and I have managed to lose some weight this year, I'm between 9st1 and 9st3. Ideally I could do with loosing half a stone still, but I dont think I could ever be 8st again. If I lose a lot I go too thin in my face. Unfortunately I have to wear a size 12 cause I'm big round my hips, occasionally get in a size 10 and size 10 on top. I'm 45 nearly 46 and 5ft5 tall. Think my current weight is probably my natural weight even though I'd prefer it to be lower.

So interesting! Do you mind sharing the book?

I sit at around 52kg which I'm very happy with. I seem to add an extra 5kg every decade so I'm expecting to see the scales start to creep up now I'm in my 30s. I don't deny myself any food that I want and my exercise levels really vary but my weight rarely changes.

mylittleyumyum · 11/12/2020 10:26

Another member of the 10st club here! Size 8-10 in trousers and skirts, and 10-12 dresses and tops. I have no bum but decent boobs. 5'6.

I used to hover around the 9 stone after both of my pregnancies and was told I looked gaunt, and ill.

woodlandwalker · 11/12/2020 10:51

My natural weight until menopause was around 7st 7lb. I always ate anything I wanted.
After that it crept up to 10st 7lb, I dieted back to 8st, back up to 12st after giving up smoking, dieted back to 9 stone, crept up to 10st 7lb and now back to 9st 3lb. I have no idea what my natural weight now is but 10st means size 16 which is too much. I'm now size 14.

cactusisblooming · 11/12/2020 11:04

I stayed around the 65kg Mark for many years until I hit perimenopause and the weight has piled on without any effort. I'm currently 15 stone, size 18 and have to eat less than 1000 calories a day to lose 1lb per week Hmm I have massive envy of you all who are stuck at 62kg!

harper30 · 11/12/2020 11:15

I'm 5'10 and 80kg is my natural 'eat what I like' weight but I'm never happy there. I know that's a stupid mix of imperial height and metric weight, I can never remember the conversions for either one! I think it's like 12.5 stone
