What's your 2.5 year old's favourite toy?

Struggling to find present ideas for my little 2.5 year old nephew. He currently is really into puzzles and duplo.

Can anyone please tell me what your child loves/loved at that age? Thanks

A ride on toy or a scooter. My youngest also loves anything with wheels, he plays with his trains and cars a lot on his mat.

Sewingbea09 · 08/12/2020 21:59

Tractors!! Obsessed.

inappropriateraspberry · 08/12/2020 22:25

Cars, tractors, diggers etc. Dinosaurs, Barbies, a playmobil 123 Noah's ark, doctors set. Books like The Gruffalo, Peppa Pig 🙄
Honestly? They're into whatever you give them! If it's in front of them, they'll likely play with it.

Mine loved happyland figures at that age, DD is 4 and still does

Bramblecrumble · 08/12/2020 22:28

Duplo also

YouAndMeAndTheDevilMakesThree · 08/12/2020 22:30

Most vehicles, but especially the Wow Toys ones, he thinks they are amazing

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 08/12/2020 22:30

Happy land or dinosaurs

Jemma2907 · 08/12/2020 22:30

My 2.5 year old boy loves the magnetic tiles. He builds cubes, different shapes etc with them and its great as they're not a huge bulky toy. I'm getting him another set for Christmas so he can start to expand on what he builds.

inappropriateraspberry · 08/12/2020 22:32

Oh yes Happyland! My 2.5 year old is always making up little stories and games with them.

Somewhereelsewhere · 08/12/2020 22:32

Puzzles.
A microphone that doAes funny stuff to your voice - annoying for parents!
A magnadoodle? This is something we use daily.
Play dough?
Something more educational? Ie. Something like

Or something from Leapfrog- they do lots of educational toys.

My son loves his till www.argos.co.uk/product/5609248?istCompanyId=a74d8886-5df9-4baa-b776-166b3bf9111c&istFeedId=30f62ea9-9626-4cac-97c8-9ff3921f8558&istItemId=ixilqpqwt&istBid=t&&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157%7Cacid:629-618-1342%7Ccid:9563523558%7Cagid:102231002110%7Ctid:pla-1006478194968%7Ccrid:423314717933%7Cnw:g%7Crnd:3815830614378597911%7Cdvc:m%7Cadp:%7Cmt:%7Cloc:9046002&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=9563523558&utm_term=5609248&utm_content=shopping&utm_custom1=102231002110&utm_custom2=629-618-1342&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItZ2YsLe_7QIVAZ7tCh3axwyoEAQYHCABEgKbDvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Or a nice art print for his room - his prents might like this. He’ll be less fussed I’m sure. Red bubble to lots of nice ones for kids. Maybe a space theme related one? Like planets or something?

Somewhereelsewhere · 08/12/2020 22:33

Not a very well written message there but feeding a young baby so just throwing the ideas out there.

Grimbot · 09/12/2020 04:29

My sons are just turned 2 and 3.5 and they play with pretty much exactly the same things especially when the other one is playing with it 🙄 they really like

  • brio train set (this is great as a gift because there are so many sets that vary in price depending on your budget and can be added to at a later date.
  • happyland stuff is great. We have the bin lorry, London bus, ambulance and fire engine. They love putting the little characters in and out and play with them all the time. I’m getting the spaceship for ds2 for Christmas and it looks great.
  • Playmobil 123. Really lovely little sets and not too fiddly for little fingers. We have the house and they love putting all the furniture in and ringing the doorbell. It gets a lot of use.
  • hot wheels cars are well loved by both of mine.
  • play tents and tunnel. These were bought for them as a gift and I was initially a bit horrified as they took up half the living room but they fold right down and we keep them between the sofa and the wall when not being used and provide hours of fun.

My Dd loves magnetic play scene sets like the ones from Petit Collage - will play with them for ages. Obviously supervised carefully if some of the pieces are small.
