Pregnant and working in care home with covid

Mumhumm · 08/12/2020 13:07

I am 6 weeks pregnant and work in a nursing home. I contracted covid 19 and am very concerned about returning to work knowing that I am now pregnant and in the moderately vulnerable category. I have read that I am entitled to full pay whilst shielding until the work place is safe.
Any advice please?

Have you done a work risk assessment?

Is your vulnerability due to being pregnant? Pregnant women aren’t generally advised to shield.

Have you currently got Covid 19? I would have thought that would hopefully decrease your risk slightly of catching it in the near future?

Have you told work you're pregnant yet? They should have risk assessments for this scenario. I think the risk increases significantly past 28 weeks.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant with a high risk pregnancy and haven't been told to shield. Pregnant women are regarded as clinically vulnerable from 28 weeks I think.

So you believe that I would be at no risk when working with residents who are covid positive? The reason I got it in the first place was probably because of a lower immune system due to being pregnant.

If you have just had it you are almost certainly immune for the duration of your pregnancy
