Dd1(18)is really into ice skating and over the last few months saved up her mo ey to buy a fairly expensive pair of skates, she bought a new bag last week to carry them in and has used it twice, today she has taken her skates out of the bag to find it has stained the skates. She bought the bag from a third party seller on amazon so not sure who to complain to.

I doubt you’ll get far with a complaint. You’d be better off trying to get the stain out.

Oh that is annoying, poor lass.

I don't know about consumer law sorry.

Things to consider:
Were the skates wet when placed in the bag?
Is there/was there a warning about colour transference (you sometimes get this on new jeans for ex)

As a skater, my first inkling is to contact the makers of the bag. Colour transfer can happen, particularly if an item gets wet, not ideal Iknow, but it should be easily fixable - I've actually seen a post about exactly this on a Facebook group I'm in, and lots of tips to help have been offered. I'm now wondering if it's your DD?

Anyway, if you contact the manufacturer of the bag, and let them know, they may be aware of an issue, or may have suggestions to help.

Was the bag specifically for skates? You would complain to the retailer ie. Whoever you paid. Try Cif to remove the marks.

Cannot help with complaint, but I removed soy sauce stains from a pale leather handbag with (bizarrely) brake cleaner fluid. Obviously try on a area that cannot be seen first, but this is trick from the people who care for ‘super cars’ (stupidly expensive cars like Ferraris, Aston Martins etc) many of which have pale leather upholstery.

I would try a magic sponge first but assuming it’s penetrated the leather I’d go for a proprietary brand of upholstery leather cleaner/stain remover.
