Taking some recycling to the big outside bins at the shopping centre I worked in, saw the centre manager coming towards me across the car park, waved and called morning, tripped over my own feet and ended up in a crumpled heap on the floor with his shouts of "oh noooo Bear!!" ringing in my ears. Tore my trousers, grazed both knees, pulled a muscle in my bum, and overextended my wrist so badly I had to wear a splint for 3 months afterwards! Mortified.

Pulled up my bra strap, hand slipped and I punched myself in the face.

Washing my face in the shower using my hands in a circular motion and my little fingers went up both nostrils, hurt like hell and bled like no ones business.

During first lockdown, I hired a giant wheelie bin to help with self-employment. Bin company did not collect bin as scheduled. On the following day, they still hadn't replied to my phone calls or emails so the bin was blocking my car on a driveway, and a Bank Holiday weekend was approaching so could not leave it there. I moved it, with rubbish still inside. In the course of doing so, the bin fell on me...the bin lid flipped backwards and smashed into my face, neck and shoulder. At the time, I just thought minor injury that would get better. Over the course of the summer, my neck got swollen and the pain got worse. So I consulted with my GP by telephone who was quite dismissive. I ended up in A&E being told I needed to see a vascular specialist immediately as I had life-changing injuries. My artery had buckled and moved across my neck through the force of the blunt trauma, my rib had damage and I also had nerve damage down the left arm. Lucky to be alive! I had surgery this year twice from this accident...rib removed, chest wall removed, artery repaired, veins decompressed...all for an accident that seemed stupid at the time, but not anymore as in absolute agony. Surgery hasn't fixed me and I have been transferred across the country for emergency surgery at a London hospital. I have a partly paralysed left arm and claw fingers now.

I’ve told this on mumsnet before but I’ll tell it again! The Big Boss was making his annual visit to our department from Italy. Whilst talking to him about my current project and trying to sound competent and intelligent, I tripped over a ‘Caution! Wet Floor!’ sign and went flying. I had to go and get my wrist X-rayed. Nothing broken except for my pride though.
