How on earth do you cut them without the chocolate falling off in big chunks, please? Xmas Smile

You need to cut bigger slices.

Chasingsquirrels · 06/12/2020 08:39

Are you taking brought ones or homemade?
Buttercream rather than chocolate makes them easier to slice (and is nicer).
Otherwise, hot knife?

Bought ones, with the chocolate-y ‘shell’.

However I try to cut it, I end up with naked sponge and a pile of chocolate pieces.

Hot knife

Use a very hot knife (dipped in boiling water) and cut slowly to allow the edges of the chocolate to melt rather than being broken.

If homemade then try a chocolate ganache. 50:50 dark chocolate melted and double cream. That slices easily, if you can get it on the yule log before you eat it all.

My other half bought me a slice recently and he’d scored the chocolate with a knife before cutting it. I was in awe 😂

Score first or use a v sharp serrated knife!
Or make your own. I make a chocolate log filled with sweetened chestnut puree, and I ice it with melted Nutella - which is not only much tastier but slices more easily too!
