What era / decade do you believe to be the most beautiful?

I think the 1960s was probably the most beautiful era in my eyes, despite having no link to the 1960s at all.
What is your favourite era and why?

(Just curious for everyone who will might be tempted to shout "reporter" Wink)

Of course, @themental! Is this the kind of ancient Greek that you mean?
(togas look bloody comfortable too)

I have to second the 30's, and actually the 40's too! There's something about the 40's that's really overlooked due to the war and austerity, but I just feel everyone looked "proper". My least favourite has to be the low rise jeans of the 90's early 2000's and the razor thin eyebrows haha

Of course you can rephrase @berrygirlie. But unfortunately I can’t answer that one now I’ve gone all metaphysical.

Yes, I think to pull these things off you have to have a small forehead and toned abs which I am sorely lacking Grin I don't know much about 40s fashion, unfortunately! If you have any info or pictures I'd love to see them - I love learning about fashion especially vintage!

@PirateCatQueen Oh no! We lost another good woman to philosophical concept! Wink

Been lost to that for a long time...😀

@berrygirlie 40's fashion. You see the typically more flattering dresses than the 20's for women of our shape! The introduction of trousers for women as they take on roles typically filled by men (and rock them!) and you see the more modest dresses of the war years in the typical greens. These dresses lasted for years when mended. Then you see, as you start to approach the late 40's early 50's the introduction of the catalogue as we know it today, more colour and "fun" returning to the clothes! Hope the pictures help.

@IdblowJonSnow

Me too. Love the 20s/30s style and the 50's - the Dior stuff. Hated the 60s look. Only good if you were a model. Everyone else looked liked thier mum with a too short skirt showing their fat little knees!

I loved the Dior exhibition. I wanted to cry and have a tantrum at all the lovely clothes - why can't I have a lovely figure and be one of the 12 YES 12 people that can afford these haute coutere clothes???!!!

Yorkshirelass04 · 06/12/2020 14:36

I would say 1960's as well! I've always wondered if I'm reincarnated from that era.

I hate to break it to you, but apparently low rise jeans are making a comeback. I look forward to seeing people's pants and buttcracks all over again.

I could see pencil thin brows coming back too. Those really thick brows have become a bit naff. Some influencer will overpluck their brows and that'll be it.

Fiftyandmore · 06/12/2020 20:00

1940's for me too.

june2007 · 06/12/2020 23:12

1940?? with makedo and mend and towns being bombsites, no money to spend on niceties.

xanthippe8 · 06/12/2020 23:24

I'd say the 1920's. I thought I'd had this premonition that the 2020's would be special, how wrong can you get!?! Or did I just misread 'Special'?
