Breastfeeding newborn

My son was born 4 days ago and has done pretty much nothing but nurse since birth, without really seeming to sleep for more than a few hours. It seems like today he has done nothing but sleep after a ride in the pram.
should I be concerned by this or this normal?

I understand that he will have been stimulating my milk supply to come in by feeding solidly for the past three nights, but today he has gone longer period without nursing and I am wondering if this means he has just not been satisfied by my milk until now.
I also womnd r if he is sleeping more to catch up after the last few days?
Anyone had similar experience?

Hello! Congrats on your newborn! I've had a similar experience. I would keep offering him the breast at regular intervals anyway, like every 3 hours or so and allowing him to nurse. 4 days is very early territory still and I'd rather have him feeding/grazing to continue to establish your supply.

Hi! Babies do sleep for big chunks in those early weeks. The general advice would be to wake them for a feed every 2 or so hours during the day, so maybe you'd want to do that today. But it sounds totally normal.

Sounds totally normal. It's highly unlikely he has not been satisfied by your supply. Breastfed babies have the tiniest tummies and really dont need much, its little and often. The first 4 weeks can be a rollercoaster. Well done for breastfeeding!

How long has he been asleep? And is he feeding in between?

I've had 2 ebf babies and I would say this could well be within the range of normal. Mine would sometimes sleep for longer and sometimes feed like locusts. If he is alert when awake and generally active when awake (as active as he has been so far) then I would say no cause for concern.

If he seems overly lethargic, hard to wake etc then I might start getting more concerned.

It's hard with your first as you have no comparison.

Expect manic feeding again around days 5, 10

Thank you to everyone for your comments, my older son is almost two and I forgot how hard the first few weeks are and how unpredictable!
Determined to BF exclusively as with first baby, however feels a lot more life consuming with second as don't want to detract all my attention from my toddler, who understandably has been very unsettled this week.
