Looking for a new hall table and I saw this on the F&B website. Really like the shape and colour.

Anyone know where I can find something very similar? Have been looking at antiques websites but not having much luck.

Try searching “mid century sideboard” although looks possibly more 60’s or 70’s. Maybe “retro sideboard” or “70’s sideboard”.

Also, I’d try eBay first, but for several weeks of regular methodical searching (or saved searches) before I’d even dream of paying antique shop prices.

Try Mid Century Modern as a search. Many auctions have them regularly now as they tend to sell for more than traditional antique sideboards.

Pipapple · 05/12/2020 06:51

Contact them and ask where its from. It could be new!

TreacleHart · 05/12/2020 07:05

In the 50s/60s/ early 70s they were known as sideboards. Mainly placed in dining rooms and held ' the best ' china and glasses. I've seen them in a good few antique shops. Sometimes also known as utility furniture.

My mum has one of those. Goodness knows where she got it, it’s older than me and I’m 42. Similar on EBay or for brand new/more modern Wayfair.

Oh wow, thank you for all the super speedy responses!

liveauctioneers.com or similar for UK

GiraffeNecked · 05/12/2020 08:21

Vinterior.co.uk

SavoyCabbage · 05/12/2020 08:25

Swoon is good for sideboards. I haven't ever seen one like this though.

Somewhere like made.com or wayfair

happysunr1se · 05/12/2020 09:20

I've got a mid century sideboard in a similar style but not curvy on the front face. It's a piece by austinsuite.

thebabessavedme · 05/12/2020 09:21

It would be worth your while to have a look round a few charity furniture warehouses, pieces like this turn up quite often after house clearances and they are sold off at a good price.

nitgel · 05/12/2020 09:25

G plan or formica.there are lots on the market quite cheap but really well made items.

littlefireseverywhere · 05/12/2020 09:25

Online Facebook or website Retro junk

SinkGirl · 05/12/2020 09:27

Agree with looking at Vinterior but also eBay and Gumtree. Local auction houses too. This is the sort of thing that goes for a few quid at our local auction houses after house clearances, or people get rid of for very little on Gumtree and Facebook, but I’m not sure auction houses are open now? Some have online auctions on sites like The Sale Room.

MobLife · 05/12/2020 09:29

G Plan, Avalon, Nathan, Mackintosh, Nils Jonsson are the well know brands for mid century sideboards
Be aware though that they're usually pretty big!

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 05/12/2020 10:22

Lombok?

EvilPea · 05/12/2020 10:25

I’m sure loaf had some nice mid century looking stuff

Ercol used to have a factory outlet.

EvilPea · 05/12/2020 10:26

We have a few charity furniture shops near by. They occasionally get mid century stuff.
