Can you recommend really tasty cheddar cheese?

I've bought port for a relative's Christmas present. This was something they suggested when I asked if there was something they wanted. I thought I'd add in some cheese & crackers, but the only cheese they like is Cheddar. I love cheese and go through pounds of Cheddar but just supermarket's own mature. Can anyone recommend a really tasty Cheddar that looks a bit nicer? I know you can buy wax covered truckles at Christmas but first and foremost it's about taste, hence wanting tried and tested suggestions.
Thank you

keane's, Isle of Mull or Wookey Hole cave aged

Another vote for Black Bomber.

I also like Yorkshire Creamery extra mature.

Tickler I feel is not quite as good as it used to be.

Godminster. Booths sell it in a nice festive star shape covered in red wax.

Lincolnshire poacher is good.

Black Bomber is lovely

I have had the Wookey Hole cave aged and thought it was a little rubbery? sweaty??

Coastal cheddar is really super, does that shattering sort of thing and has those odd little crystals in...I think it's calcium, but really tasty and creamy. I have only seen it in Costco though.

Does anyone know where I can get a trickle of wookey hole, got one a few years ago and not seen it since

Davidstow is my favourite.

Late to the party, but I was also going to suggest Black Bomber, had it on a cheeseboard at Renoufs in Bournemouth and it was fantastic

Ginfordinner · 04/12/2020 15:55

Yet another vote for Black Bomber. It is just superb.

TeaLibrary · 05/12/2020 12:21

Oh yes....undoubtedly Black Bomber. Its utterly divine. The red storm variant also by snowdonia is so nice as well. Happy cheese buying.

Bloodypunkrockers · 05/12/2020 12:24

I was coming on to say Orkney which is my favourite

But I'm going to try black bomber now

TeaLibrary · 05/12/2020 12:29

It really is, I wouldn't go back to any other after having it, it's not the same.
