I need to start drinking milk due to health reasons. I work ft do wanted to take some to drink. My current water flask is plastic and I can just see it getting smelly if I have milk in there.

Can someone suggest a suitable flask?

Contigo flasks are great for hot drinks, can't see why they wouldn't be great for cold ones too.

I know this! I have a son that has needs whole milk for health reasons!

Anything with less moving parts and simple opening work best.

Depending on if you want something pretty and bottle looking, steel vacuum flask water bottles are good. You may have to stick them in a sleeve with a cool pack in the heat of summer. Thermos vacuum water bottles and fab all year round and a bit more compact if you can find one.

But actually Built flasks are the best. No moving parts or fiddly bits so far easier to clean. Its Solid and the vacuum is good enough to keep whole milk in a heat wave mid summer. Contigo arent reliable enough for cold. Thermos are awesome but not quite as easy to clean.

Chillys would do the job for this I think. You can buy new lids if the original one starts to get a bit whiffy, and as others have said, no moving parts or awkward nooks and crannies to clean.

We bought a wide neck laken thermos. Fill it with ice cubes and water the night before that way in the morning I'm the insides are ice cold, tip out ice water and put in the milk.

We do have an ice maker in the freezer though, hence buying the wide neck flask for easy fill.

Hazelnutlatteplease hey, thank you! From reading the reviews the built ones seem fine for cold but you can't seem to open it with hot drinks. I guess it wouldn't matter if I'm using it for cold milk. But have you found any problems with opening the lid?

Nah I haven't and I use them for hot and cold.

It actually was a random emergency purchase after a previous flask got left in holiday accommodation so i picked up whatever I could from a local shop. It would not have even been on the shortlist had i seen the Amazon reviews. The first eventually ended up on railway tracks after it slid out my bag manoeuvring a wheelchair onto a train. (Starting to become obvious why ive tried so many different flasks Blush) And I missed it so much I ending up going out my way to try and work out what brand it was. Then i replaced one of my 2 that I use for coffee, so so far I've had 3.

Main thing is you really can clean them with just a normal brush or dishcloth, you don't need a bottle brush and it doesn't have additional rubber bits that you have to take off. All of the others (including the metal water bottles) its advisable to have a thick and thin bottle brush just in case.

Adding to some of the tips above. If you do find its got a bit wiffy because you forget about a full flask of milk and left it in a hot car a couple of days You can recover the flask by filling it with 1tsp bicarbonate of soda and boiling water (and lemon juice if you have it). Or take it apart and put it in the bowl with the above. Then rise and wash. You shouldn't need to replace the lid.

The ice trick. You can get a similar effect by sticking the flask in the fridge overnight.

Hazelnutlatteplease ok youve sold it to me! Will purchase tonight. Thank you for the tips too. I can see you're pretty experienced in this! 😊

Oh is it totally fine knocking about upside down and all sorts in my work bag? Leakproof is definitely a must!

Yes definitely. Store it upside down in your bag type leakproof. Its a solid construction with nothing breakable. (DS who is himself an advanced stress test). Its not great for drinking from when driving because of the wide rim and do you need two hands to open it. But it feels more like just drinking from a normal cup when it is open.

Oh and if it does happen to be whole milk you need, I have a couple of other recommendations you might find handy...

I've spent waaaay too much time thinking about milk storage BlushConfusedGrin especially for when we've been travelling out and about.

Hazelnutlatteplease thank you, and yes I will be drinking whole milk. Please share your recommendations- I'm intrigued! 😀
