Christmas is around the corner, the phones won't stop ringing, our patients are filled with Christmas joy no they are not , stress levels are on a new high and let's not forget the bastard mcs drugs keeping us on our toes!

Let's all gather around on this difficult month and vent.

Have your dispensary chocolates at hand and the wine on standby at home. If we only swear 5 times in a day it's an achievement and if the phone accidentally lands on the floor and you happen to be stomping your foot at that very spot it landed..oh well..oops!

AND REMEMBER!

It comes automatically

My lovely gp always prescribes 2 months worth of my meds over Christmas. Surely it is just common sense?

Depends what you're taking. Controlled drugs have to be supplied monthly.

Happy New Year to you all!

Question: my prescription has been hospital only for the last 3 years, but that is changing. It’ll come from hospital (not GP) and has been supplied 12 weeks worth (after consultant review, blood tests and ECG). What are the chances in these circs that I’ll still get 12 weeks worth at a time?

Bear in mind that owing to shielding the hospital has couriered meds to me since March and so the pharmacy will need to courier to me for the next few months at least

Thanks for any guesses!

(also wondering if you will be playing ‘spot the med’ from the description so far!)

Oh, sorry, I didn't realise the thread was only about controlled drugs. I saw some comments about ordinary repeats earlier.
I would have thought that a system where people like me on long term, non- controlled drugs, could get a double Px in the lead up to Christmas, that would free up time for pharmacists to concentrate on the more complicated stuff.

Is it a refrigerated injection?

One thousand million thank yous to community pharmacists. You have a horrendous job just now. I'm a GP and our local pharmacies are brilliant. Patients always say "when will my prescription be ready" I always tell them that it will arrive early afternoon at the pharmacy but I have also just sent a 2inch thick pile of prescriptions down too so I cannot say when it will be ready.

We've had a rough day today. Short staffed due to schools closed for all children today, including key workers).
There seem to be a lot of cars and people about. This doesn't feel like much of a lockdown...
