I need a diary/planner for 2021

So - I have the memory of a goldfish and really just need to keep track of everything - so when I ordered something, bills to pay (when due and when laid), lists for birthdays/presents etc, keep track of everyone’s dentist/trips etc, receipts, reminders...

I want something that will hold all of this - but the only ones I’ve seen are full of bloody twee motivational quotes and dumb lists ‘if not now, when?💕💕💕’ bleugh. In not a drippy teen for goodness sake!

Has anyone got something that is grown up and practical?

I have a little pocket one which is ideal. It’s the Hebridean Pocket Diary. It’s a compact diary so ideal for noting down appointments etc, and it has pretty little sketches by Maori Hedderwick. No twee crap.

SweetPetrichor · 03/12/2020 11:10

...that should have been Mairi...not Maori as autocorrect thinks!

I need a big one! I usually have several notebooks and a calendar and am good about keeping records but just want them all in one place!

My ds got me a lovely Collins scandi a5 diary for Christmas. The cover is pink (as he said my black one was boring) but other than that theres no inspirational quotes etc.
It's a page a day, which I need to keep track of everything between work and home.

I get the boxcleverpress family life planner - it’s A5 size.
List of sections
So useful numbers page (I also wrote the kids various school log-ons etc here)
Then 3 timetable pages (1 for each term) so I write kids timestabkes, afterschool clubs etc here. Enough columns for everyone and more
Then it’s a week to. Double page. 7 columns so I use q for each of the 5 of us, 1 for work and 1 for general (eg birthdays, whole family things etc) there is also a menu column and a to do list.
Each month also has a double page month planner so you can see the whole month at a glance.
Then there is a Christmas/summer holiday planning section. Useful for list of who to send cards to, summer calendar planner so good to work out childcare arrangements over the holidays (mine is a mosh mash of me or DH off, kids going to MILs, various holiday camps, childcare shops with friends etc)
Then a budget planning section so monthly outgoing etc and then a shopping list section.
Comes with some stickers for things like dosctors appts etc

I've ordered this one : gb.moleskine.com/en/alices-adventures-in-wonderland-12-month-large-weekly-notebook-planner-mad/p1862

Love a moleskine planner.

That is really cute - I might get that for my sister! I think I saw some Peanuts ones too (but the drawings aren’t very nice?. I’ve ordered one of those boxclever ones - I’m a sucker for stickers and lists!

For the second year running I have gone for a boxcleverpress one as well after seeing a recommendation on here last year.

Phizpop · 03/12/2020 12:24

I use a personal planner.com one. You can personalise it a lot before being printed.
Different layouts per week , monthly views, extra planning pages from tracking, budgets, academic planning etc. Got one for mum last christmas and she asked for another this year, and I made myself an academic year one in the summer. They do take a couple of weeks to arrive as printed unique for you, but great quality!

BookShark · 03/12/2020 12:27

Another vote for www.personalplanner.com/EN/planner_editor/

Completely customisable, lots of different sizes - I think they're great.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 03/12/2020 12:30

These are all good. I never realised other people enjoyed stationery porn to...

Second the box clever press family planner, I also use the matching calendar

www.whsmith.co.uk/products/whsmith-a5-day-to-page-2021-black-essential-diary/5013872101169.html

Utilitarian all the way for me. They have different sizes, plus day to view or week to view.

zenasfuck · 03/12/2020 12:58

The only planner I have found to work for me and have used consistently is the undated planner by scribble and dot available on Amazon

AliceinBunniland · 03/12/2020 13:15

I love a Filofax

BlueDaysTillChristmas · 03/12/2020 14:18

@AliceinBunniland I think I would like a Filofax but are they expensive? Not the case, but the paper inserts every year? Do the ring binder bits get in the way when you are writing?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 03/12/2020 14:33

The inserts don’t need to be expensive as non FF branded ones will fit too. I had one (almost 30) years ago and it’s still knocking around somewhere...

OP posts:
AliceinBunniland · 03/12/2020 14:37

I don't think they're very expensive @BlueDaysTillChristmas - less than buying a nice new diary every year

I don't find the rings a problem but it depends which one you have and the size. I have A5 ones so have a bit more space

BlueDaysTillChristmas · 03/12/2020 14:43

Yes it’s A5 I was looking at. But there are so many extras you can buy, rulers, hole punchers, plastic wallets, stickers, little maps, the list goes on and on. I’m not sure I have the willpower to get started, it might just turn into an expensive hobby Grin. They do look good though, it’s the customisation that appeals.

AliceinBunniland · 03/12/2020 16:30

Yes it can also be an expensive hobby too

I've got he A5 compact heritage in brown and a filofax original a5 in neutral

I quite like swapping them out too

You can get some things on the sale too
