Tier 2 - can a handyman put in a new kitchen at the moment?

Been waiting literally nearly a year for a new kitchen that the landlord has made a lot of excuses not to move ahead with yet. Obviously lockdown has had a huge implication on this and I have not been pushy.

But I am now getting rather fed up of the lack of progress and am wondering if anyone knows if legally work can go ahead to install it during the tier 2 lockdown? It would just be the handyman plus maybe one other person.

Thanks

Yes. We have had constant building work since february.

During the last lockdown you could have had building work done. My friend has been having her kitchen fitted over the past month and we've had things measured up for work. It was only not allowed way back at the beginning

Yes. Observe social distancing/leave them to it. I have had the plumber out multiple times and also had a decorator in. I just stayed out of their way or they came while everyone was at work.

I'm currently sitting in my living room with the doors shut (day 2) as I'm having the sink and worktops replaced in the kitchen. All the kitchen windows have been open since 8.00am to clear the 'aerosols' and will remain open until at least an hour after the joiner leaves. I'm having very limited contact - only when entirely necessary - although I did make him coffee yesterday- my kettle and a tray of cups etc are in the living room and the milk is outside the front door so I don't need to go into the kitchen at all. When he left yesterday I cleaned down all door handles etc that he will have touched. Work is allowed to go ahead but I would say do your own risk assessment - can you have it done with limited/no contact with the workers. Do you trust them to be covid safe ?

DH is an electrician and regularly works with a kitchen fitter. Both have been working throughout the latest lockdown, and will continue to work (we're tier 3).

Most clients either go out or stay in a different part of the house while they're working, if they need to discuss anything it's with masks and from a distance, and work is a little slower as they avoid having different traids in at the same time. but otherwise pretty much buisness as usual.
